Man, try to ask her ASAP to avoid other fighter pilots, who'll do their best to try and shoot you down in flames. Like birdgirl73 said, the earlier the better. She can prepare for the moment, and the anticipation level will be maxed out on the night of the Homecoming dance.

I'd buy one red rose, tie a pink ribbon around it, and then try and catch her close to or near being alone. Hand her the rose, tell her something like "This rose represents my hope and desire to have the honor of taking you to the Homecoming Dance/Game/Whatever. Would you give me that honor?"

I know that it sounds corny as hades to some, but I have found that chivalry, respect, and sincerity works very well when asking a lady out. Speak distinctly, with your eyes meeting hers, with the most sincerest look you can give her. Practice if you have to, in front of a mirror.

If she is the one you want, and she turns you down, or says she'll think about it, give her a day or so, then ask her again, this time giving her maybe a stuffed animal - "Ty" beanie babies are cool, and cost very little. Get her something like a tiger, lion - or something cute like a duck, or maybe a bear or panda. Even better, find out from someone, a friend or someone who knows her, what month her birthday is in, and get her a birthday bear of that month. Write a little note, and if she turned you down - something like "I am still hope and desire that you will change your mind and decide to go with me to the H/C dance." If she said she'll think about it, try the line "I hope and pray you'll decide to go to the dance with me. My dream is to be dancing with YOU that night." Pin the note to the animal with a pin or something. Then try again to catch her alone, and give it to her, let her read it, and see what happens.

I wish you luck, my young friend. Always remember to treat her with respect, and speak distinctly, and with a confident air about you. The gals like a confident fellow.

I bet'cha you'll get her to go, and you'll both have a great time.

But ALWAYS have a backup plan, or someone to ask if she turns you down - that'll possibly get her jealousy juices flowing, and you may end up with her after all is said and done.
