Well he said average income so I figured that about 30k-80k a year considering some people get paid next to nothing and some are millionaires.

Oh and the pounds is worth about 2 dollars so if youre making 200 quid its the same as 400 dollars.

no i think minimum wage protects us from working hard for nothing. i don't think that there was this dream world where everybody got paid fairly just out of good nature. the reason minimum wage is there is so people get paid AT LEAST enough to live off. if a company wants you really bad then they will pay you fairly, if they know you need the job more than they need you they could get away with paying you next to nothing. I think it helps keep people from being taken advantage of. I still think it sucks to make minimum wage, but its for the jobs that ANYBODY could get. And if you are smart and work hard and are worth more, you will make more.

have you ever tried living in so cal on minimum wage? i suppose it's possible if you can live off of wild mustard greens, don't own a car and are willing to share an apartment with seven other people.

actually, yes. i live in san diego and for a long time i worked 40 hours a week for $7 an hour. I know what I'm talking about. I had a car and did not live off whatever greens you said and i had a few roomates who were really cool.

like i said, it sucks to make minimum wage, but i think its good that at least the goverment made a law that you have to make at least a certain amount. if you don't want to be poor get a better job, or work towards getting one.

besides, i'm arguing against the point that he said "before minimum where ever you lived you would get a fair pay in the community."

Min. wage here is $6.50/hour. Let's say you get a 40 hour week, $6.50 x 40 = $260, without taxes taken off. Let's say 4 weeks, 4 x 260 = $1040. Still gotta figure in the gov's cut.
