Dan Marino turns 46 today and he was the greatest passing quarterback ever in the NFL. He never won a Superbowl but Dan carried the Dolphins until he retired in 2000. He never had a running game, he never had a defense to protect his offense, and in the last few years of his career he had no offensive line or wide receivers. He would still put the ball right on their fingertips even with defensive backs all over the wideouts and they would drop it. Of the 36 or so NFL records Dan holds, has held, or shares, his favorite record and the one he is most proud of is career touchdowns thrown because he says that represents him putting up points for his team which is what it is all about. Guess what that career number is?

420!!!!

Yes, unless someone breaks Favre's leg he will break that record this year and unless Peyton has a major injury (stop playing in a dome on astroturf you big fraud!) he will come along and break that record but none will do it with the style Dan did it in. He didn't just beat the records he smashed the records and took the passing game to a whole new level. He set the way for the new gunslingers and this game is better for having Dan Marino come along! He was a class act on and off the field.
