    How angry are you?

Does anyone else here become infuriated when they read about the senseless and idiotic policies and actions of the DEA and other antidrug agencies? Specifically, the attitudes towards marijuana?

Every single fucking time I read about the police/feds busting a 19 year old kid having his life ruined because he had 4 grams of pot on him, or some guy in New Mexico who is in a wheelchair growing some pot to keep himself sane and in some measure of comfort, or a MS patient with 2 plants for personal use, et al I get absolutely furious to the point I cannot even sleep. It makes no sense. None whatsoever. Even the recreational use of marijuana is far, FAR less dangerous than drinking or smoking. Politicians talk about how bad marijuana is, but yet we see advertisements on television glorifying Absolut vodka, and implying that if you drink or buy it you will get to hang out with and possibly go home with some random hot chick or guy. Nevermind that AIDS and other STDs are still a very real concern. I mean, how can you have alcohol remain legal while spewing fire and brimstone about the evils of a plant? Not that I am against alcohol - I love it, and feel that it (as well as pot) can and should be legally allowed to be used recreationally.

The idea that someone can go to jail and be permanently branded an outcast from "normal, productive" society is a ludicrous product of a narrow-minded, asinine, backwards, selfish and uneducated world/personal viewpoint.

What really compounds this whole situation is the fact that marijuana has been proven to have several valid medical uses, and is theorized to have many, many more. It helps prevent health problems that make vaporizing it somthing that I think should be part of everyone's lives.

I'm a verified, absolute stoner/pothead. I love to get high. It helps with my sciatica, my insomnia, my anxiety and generally makes me feel better. Unlike drinking, I don't stay fucked up for 8 hours without being able to function whatsoever, then have to wake up the next morning feeling like shit and knowing that my liver just had 5 years taken off of its useful life. If I vaporize a gram or two of pot, I know that my health is great, and I'll sleep well, and I may have to work just a little bit harder the next day to focus and concentrate.

I had a 3.6GPA in college. I scored in the top twenty percent on the LSAT with one lackadaisical month of preparatory studying. I work hard and believe in going to work to work. I'm really good at what I do. I have only ever been in one wreck in my entire life, I have no traffic violations on my record, I've served in the US Marine Corps, and I'm a diehard American patriot. Yet if I get caught trying to grow 3 or 4 plants so I don't have to go to the blackmarket for pot, I can be put in jail for 60 years. I love the US, but I really, really hate what the politicians are doing to it. This is MY country, and it is OUR country. It is NOT a fucking social club that politicians and ignorant policy-makers can use as their fucking fantasy kingdom. Who the fuck are they to tell my state, where the majority of people, after 11 years, still believe that marijuana is ok, that we cannot decide for ourselves what is good and bad for our society? Look at Amsterdam. Look at their crime. Look at their drug use, both "soft" and "hard".

Sorry for the rant. I just couldn't keep it in any longer. I had to get it out. It is better to put it here than to do something stupid and get myself thrown in jail.

Peaceful civil disobedience is the answer! Things are slowly changing. I'm 28 and I believe in my lifetime, at the very least, medical marijuana will be common and accepted. Let's hope for the broad legalization of marijuana, or at least, the federal decriminalization of it.

You probably have a garden in your basement like everyone else in California. But really, it's not legal there? You're right. It's an infuriating topic but frankly it just doesn't bother enough traders in the circuit. The law is harsh. It creates an opportunity for hope but the process of change is hardly ever short, quick, and painless. The way I see it, I'm just another demanding consumer for law and lawlessness, if that makes any sense.

No, I wish I did though.

Medical use is legal here, and generally cops are reasonable laid back about it. The DEA and feds are another story. They've already stated they don't recognize California laws, and don't really care, and will do their best to make an example of California.

Change is definitely slow, but I think it will happen. Look at most of the presidential candidates this year. The majority of them, at the least, support medical marijuana, and several support decriminalizing it.

I'm the same consumer at the moment, for better or worse.

Where I live it's more a problem of state law. Second offence is a felony, even for a roach. I did 11 months for a roach in the ashtray. No why they kicked in the door, but still crazy. Needless to say we don't have medical marijuana here, not that I have any reason I would get it anyway.

wow... what state is that? Where I live anything over 2 oz is a felony, but you can't get a felony for multiple small charges.

Yup, my brother was given a CDS marijuana charge, now he cannot do engineering in the air force like he was going to, let alone join the air force for that matter, and also he cannot receive financial aid for college now..

The medical marijuana issue is a whole 'nother can of worms itself..Trying to fucking tell me that people just want to get high and it's not helping them, go get fucked buddy..very very compassionate towards this subject

I watched my grandpa wither into nothing from being pumped full of drugs that were supposed to help him because he had cancer, knowing what I do about medical marijuana now, had I known then maybe my grandpa would still be alive if he was puffing a j...If it was available to those who could use it, there would be a lot less deaths from terminal illnesses..Oh wait, too much money is being made from the suffering of people, the sicker they get, the more drugs they'll need..that's what big pharm wants..

They don't need people being able to grow their own medicine, they'd lose money then..

THC is one of the few things from what I understand that has possible anti-cancer properties..when mice given extreme doses can live twice as long and shrink malignant tumors I'd say that's pretty promising...but remember, marijuana's dangerous, so sick people shouldn't smoke it..instead take this pill, and if that pill makes you sick, take this other pill because it should help too, and while you're at it go ahead and buy those one pills too..Hey, how about we burn our reward system out and do some liver damage from opiate use...fuck our government....

While money does hold a fair amount of sway, people's attitudes are far more powerful. Since pot is the antithesis of the american ideal, it has a powerful stigma attached to it. It doesn't promote industriousness, it promotes introspection and causes people to question the purpose of the status quo. And the Mexican's seemed to like it so of course it can't be good because all they do is come over here and keep lazy americans on their toes by working so damn hard. But wait, I thought weed didn't promote industriousness? hmmmm
