Drying my bud (help)

Alright so I JUST clipped 3 nugs off my plant. Now what I did was take a Advil container and made 5 small holes on the cap for ventilation and now I'm sitting it under my bed in a dark place. Did I do everything correctly to dry it out? Also how long should I wait intill its ready. Like 5-7 days?

was I right to make holes in the cap?
