Hey all,
I am an 18 year old senior in highschool and I am currently making preparations for college. My cousin went to college in Austraila, and I am thinking that maybe if I want to start a new life in the Netherlands, I should attend college in Amsterdam. Have any of you guys ever thought about/had gone to college in Amsterdam/Holland? I hate this fucking country (USA) its gay, and I nearly throw up when I see the American flag (thats why when we say the pladge at school, I stay in my sit, and stick my middle finger up the flag. I want to start a new life in Amsterdam, where I can have freedom to express myself. There is no greater freedom feeling than sitting down on a curb with your friends and toking up the loaded bong on a crowded street corner in the city. Let me tell you...life is about fulfilling your desirements, indulging in pleasure, and living the FREE LIFE. Life was NOT made to work more than 3/4 of your entire life. If somebody works all their life, what is the fucking point of living huh????? As for financial stability, ill make a fortune off some invention or something, and live the rest of my life in peace. Let me tell you...doing nothing but working and sleeping makes you a victim of capitalism. By working, you become a slave of the currency, and your life revolves around with obessesion of attaining more funds. Can anybody relate to my feelings and plans? What do you think about going to college in the 'dam?

dude, i have alot of respect for wat u wrote above and i feel the same way alot, i think if u really are serious about starting a new life, then no one can stop u, just be sure u can make money to live and eat and shit, but seriously i got alot of respect for u and good luck with watever goes down

I agree with ilovelife I have a lot of respect for you too and I can totally relate to what you're saying. Why can't we all just live in peace smoking weed and doing what we want? Good luck with everything and be sure to keep us posted on what happens maybe someday when I get some money I'll be able to go to amsterdam and smoke freely...awww sounds sooo nice!

have you been to amsterdam? maybe before you choose to move there you should go there for a trip. I haven't been there so it i dont know what to expect, but i hear the weather is kinda grey and gloomy. Well hope you the best.

i kind of have the same dream man. im only 16 though, but if there is one place i would want to live the rest of my life, it would be amsterdam. what kind of academics do you have to have to go to a decent college in amsterdam? im mostly Bs and Cs, so i will probably need to pick up the grades a little. peace.

You can't just go and live in amsterdam, to become a resident of the netherlands you have to live there for like 3 years and u can't have a job, a drivers license, own property, nothing... you pretty much have to find someone who will let u live with them for 3 years and feed you and shit..... i don't think freedom is hitting a bong on the street, i think freedom includes things that are a little more important than that, this summer, spend 1500 bucks on a plane ticket and a hotel for a week, rent a bike, make sure u have some money for weed, and check out your dream country

Dude, the Netherlands is not all like Amsterdam, and if you sit on busy street corners toking, you will get hauled in by the police - its de-criminalised, but that means you smoke in the designated places, either at home or a coffee shop.
And to be honest, having worked in and around the Netherlands for long periods of time, are you really sure?
I mean the Dutch are some of the nicest people EVER, but the place is a bit dull (I know its a joke about it being a flat place, but untill you're there, you cannot comprehend it) and there's only so many combinations of cheese, bread and ham that you can put up with after a while (can anyone tell me the pinacle of Dutch cuisine??!!? ), and outside of the Dam, you may find the rest of Holland, although beautiful and very friendly, quite conservative.

Just be wary. And to all the Dutch readers, Schipol is the best airport ever I think!
