Room Temps
So my friend hooked up everything in his room for a trial run for a couple hours before he cracks the seeds, and the temps were 78° in the room and about 86° under the hood with only 2 out of 3 fans running. The hood was also 20" from the tubs, so the bulb was probably 15". It is a 1KW bulb. Humidity was 61%-67% for the two hours.
I know its supposed to be 70-80° and 50-60%, but are these temps and humidity levels too high? He is starting with 4 150W CFLs to veg and then only using the HPS to flower, so the hood and bulb will be at least 2 feet higher than it was, but we wanted to see how hot it really got with the HPS light since CFLs don't produce too much heat.dejayou30 Reviewed by dejayou30 on . If I were to grow cannabis, I would only do so to supply myself and my close friends. Doing this would take myself and my friends out of harms way by knowing the source of our cannabis, as well as take hundreds of thousands of dollars off the black market annually. It would also lower the demand of black market cannabis, and would ultimately help keep cannabis out of the hands of minors.[/SIZE]

I have had fine results with temps at 85-88F and humidity at 44-52%.
Is your friend running an extraction fan or just oscilating fans?
An extraction fan can lower your temps by 10-15F.

He has a 4" in/out squirrel cage fan sucking directly out of the middle of the 2.5'x3' hood, above the bulb, and an oscillating fan blowing side to side in front of the hydro table. He is also going to put a smaller fan down on the floor tilted upwards into the hood near the passive fresh air intake, but he currently doesn't have the fan.
