What if the very tip of the bud (less than half the bud itself) were removed. Like, 3-6mm of a bud - no where near as much as you would cut in topping OR even FIMing. Just the very tip top.

Personally, based on my botanical experience, it probably wouldn't do much good. My thought is that because you take the tip off, the remaining bud looks fatter due to a perspective effect. Since it is shorter, its width seems larger. In reality I doubt it really widens the bud - it just appears to (which may be good if you plan to sell based on appearance, bad if you sell on weight, which is the norm). I would bet the bud weighs less if treated as metioned than if left to fully mature, even if by only a small quantity. Then again, I would never sell, PERIOD. As limited as my freedoms are in this country regarding these matters, I would still rather be in the working world than behind bars...
