there are items called trap focus triggers- wildlife photographers use them to photograph animals on trails- sophisticated equipment- better SLR's have this built into flash units - call your local camera store -preferably a pro shop and tell them what you need - tell them you want to photograph animals on a trail so you can shoot the bastards

My friend uses game cameras, but its to catch the giant buck he's seen near his plants.
If someone has been stealing your plants, be very careful returning to the site- you could be putting yourself in danger.
Also, please confine yourself to one thread per topic. Thanks. I'm merging this one with the preexisting thread in 'outdoor', where it belongs.

Depending on the resolution, a game cam would probably work fine. Most the models I've seen have motion detectors built in and do a nice job of getting the capture. The only question is whether the resolution will be good enough to allow you to ID the people who took them, especially at night.

If your in the US, your better of just forgetting it and be extremely cautious of going back to that site. If there are more plants there or in the area, there maybe people watching and you have to ask yourself, is the reward worth the risk, especially knowning that someone else knows what is there.... Indoors is the only way to go, only way to get caught is to be stupid.... dont pay your electric bill, vent into the sewer, etc,etc
good luck tho

Hey,
You might notice there's a post missing- please can we try to avoid any talk of violence even in a situation where we might feel violence would be justified?
Thanks!

If the camera has a flash...and the person is coming at night...then he will simply steal the camera ...as the flash will tell him where its at.
