That is funny. I can get pretty ridiculous when I smoke. When I first started a few years ago, I would go nuts, and just laugh my ass off constantly for 2 or 3 hours. I did that the first few times.

After that, I would just get silly and talk a lot. My roommate was going to the mall, and he didn't invite me. I was like, "what the fuck? are you leaving?" He said, "Oh, you want to go out in public? Can you handle it?"

I said, "Yeah. I am stoned, but I am fine. I can act sober whenever I want." I did, and I surprised my friends that had been smoking for a lot of years.

In a sense it's all in your head, but in a sense it's not. It's kind of like being seasick. Part of it is physical, and part of it is mental. Try smoking the same amount, but just do it a little slower. Your friends are probably seasoned stoners, and can handle it better. It's always okay, to say, "I'm all set," because you have already smoked enough. I really don't like to be out of my mind stoned anymore very often. It's fun once in awhile.

Another thing you might want to try is a pure indica strain or one that is mostly indica.

I smoked some weed that I knew was indica today because I got a nice mellow body high. When I smoke sativa, I get really talkative and silly, and sometimes introspective and philosophical. As you smoke more, you will be able to handle it more.
