Law has nothing to do with right and wrong. The legal system does not know "right or wrong" and is supposed to leave those decisions to the people (vote for laws) so enforcement will match some sort of "community standard".

In theory it's a great system.

In reality, a small percentage of fascist enforcement doesn't understand their role in society (enforce community standards) and small but influential power mongers skew the results so community standards are not accurately represented.

Also you've got those mongers in Washington who think the whole country is one community and don't recognize what it means when San Francisco keeps reversing Washington's decisions...
