Coming out of the cannabis closet
I have already come out of the agnostic closet to my family. My parents are hardcore Christians, and it upsets them that I am no longer a Christian. But, they believe I am...
I have come out of the cannabis closet to my sisters, but not my parents.
The funny thing is my parents are the typical used-to-be-a-cool-stoner-hippie-turned-conservative-christian people. My dad smoked every day until I was 2. There was so much weed going around on the island of Hawai'i back in the 70's that he never had to buy it. People just gave it to him. Imagine that!
Anyway, I am considering coming out of the cannabis closet to them, just because I want them to know it's not a big deal, and the sacred herb can help a lot of people with a lot of different physical and psychological problems.
But, maybe it will just make them upset, and will give them more reason to believe I might be going to hell (which I don't believe in.)
Have you come out of the cannabis closet? To who? Montel Williams is the first person I saw do so publicly on a youtube video. I thought it was great!
Not looking for advice, just others to share their experiences on coming out.angry nomad Reviewed by angry nomad on . I'm in the same boat as you. Can't imagine or bear telling them. Imagine such a world, where you tell your problems and troubles to strangers first, rather than your own parents.
I'm Muslim so would be even harder, going out with a girl is considered big fucking sin, so imagine weed? The world is fucked!!! lol
I'd love to tell them and explain that it isn't all bad but just don't think they would understand. I've grown up with the belief that your parents love you regardless and no matter what you do. I think my parents KNOW I smoke already and maybe they're waiting for me to tell them, maybe the same case with you?
I'd love to give you advice on how to approach them or how to say it without hurting their feelings but I don't have a clue myself. Sorry

Coming out of the cannabis closet
I came out of the cannabis closet when I was still in high school. I got tired of people calling pot heads losers, so I became an active smoker, always trying to do something, always trying to get someone to smoke pot.
Iâ??d say Iâ??m in the closet more then ever because of my current job though.
What Iâ??m trying to say is that under cretin circumstances and situations, maybe itâ??s not best to 'come out'. If you think your parents would flip, and you have nothing to gain from it, I wouldn't.

Good for you! It takes a mature person to do that... My dad knows, and he's fine. I suspect my mom knows (by the way I dress, act, look, and even talk it should be obvious, but no...) but I am waiting to tell her when I move out. I also came out of the atheist/agnostic closet not too long ago to my parents, it was difficult, but they're fine with it. Good luck!

Coming out of the cannabis closet
I came completely out of the Cannabis closet. Most of my family (the adults), all had a problem with it. I need to be true to myself. I don't live for others. I'm ok that others judge me for it. Not only does all of my immediate family know (large family), but even my inlaws overseas know about my plants! It's not that I go around announcing what I do, but then again, if the questions are asked, I answer with honesty. At least to my face, everyone is still cool with me cause I respect them and treat them how they would like to be treated!
I told them, don't judge me because I smoke, judge me for how I treat you.

Coming out of the cannabis closet
I am 38 now and do not live in a cannabis closet anymore, but I guess I came out to my parents (or at least my mom) when I was 14. I had a very painful female disease so she didn't mind that I burned because it helped the pain.

Well, fortunately, Ive always had Joe Dirt's parents, and so I have hooked them up since I was 17, which is debatably white trash....
But always living this way, makes me wonder what I would do in one of your situations where the parents werent cool. Sorry to hear.

I would have come out of the Big Bad Bud closet all the way back in high school if my parents were Bill Maher and Barbara Ehrenreich, but they aren't. I know my pops used to blaze all the way to hell in college, but that was a while ago. Just not safe to risk it at this point.
