Why so fat and short?

Hello,
I am running my first water farms system that I modified with air stones and recirc pump. I notice that my plants are much shorter and are very full already. Some of the leafs are almost as big as my hand at it is only 2 1/2 weeks. I have minumal veritical growth, currently it is only 7" tall, but is overgrowing the sides of the container. I have been keeping the Ph @ 5.5-5.7 and PPM at 400. I am using BC boost and grow with a little red b1. I run the light for 18 hours. Water recircs every 2 hours. A/C 24/7.

Is the strain making it so short and fat or I am doing something wrong? I have been fighting humidty and I just bought a dehumidifier. Other than that my temps are under 80 as I run an A/C unit in the cab.

I just flushed the water today and I have had the plants out of the water for a while, that is why it is droppy. Normally the leafs are more upright.

Wellcool, I just thought it was odd because I never see them that big so early. I had a couple others that did not make it so I am gonna try to get as much as I can out of this one. I am thinking of leaning it over and doing a screen once it gets a little taller to try to get as much as I can for the first run. I just upped the nuts today and changed the water. I also got some HVO to see if that will help it get a little taller??!?!. I am gonna start flowering in about a week in a half.

Ever done hydro before ? Or just dirt ? Any past experience ?
Plants look great , get used to the insane growth rate in these systems . In 17 weeks I can get a lb. per bucket w/ this same style sys. but w/ 1000w hps but aint no way I could pull it off in a cabinet .

I'd top it now then start training / lst in about a week to 10 days then add the screen . Look up a thread called Lovely ladies - its by justaseed . He has a 400 in a cab and can get 12 oz pretty easily .

What strain ?

I have done dirt in the past but with with crappy results. I went and did some research this time to try and get it right, systems now are easy, you just have to invest with the right items.

So last night I upped the nutes to 700 and a decided to trim the larger leafs off to give more lights for the lower limbs. Over night I seen about an 1" of height. and they look happy. I have started to kick on the CO2 (15min every 2 hours) for a few days and then I will stop again unitl flowering. I sprayed it last night with VHO (very high output) and it seems to have made it happy. I am every suprised with the results. I am going to home depot to get a screen today just like justaseed did. I seen that thread and I was gonna try they way he did it, but since I am down to just one good one, I was hoping to let it get a little taller and train it to lean some to give me more plant to fill the cab. I plan to switch the light in about a week or so, I was just hoping to get to about 15" first.

I added the dehumidifer and now my humdity levels are at 40, I am gonna kick it down a little more to the 30's.

If I were to top this where would I do it? The top already has several locations, but where should I do it?

Usually best to top the fresh growth coming from the main stem.

Well I did top it about 4 days ago. I still see no vertical growth, though I am still having great overall gurth. I am still at 7-7 1/2" tall but it is over 11" wide. I have several stems running everywhere and I have started to train it with a screen, but I am not sure how long I should keep it in veg.

Should veg be based off height or time? I am at 3 weeks and 3 days, should I stay in veg unitl 6 weeks? I was looking to see 12-16" of vertical height before switching to 12/12. Why is this so short, is it me or the strain?

My Ph is 5.7 and I keep it near that
PPM is 780
Temps are 72-80
Humid ~40-45 (I run a de-hum 24/7)
Res temps 80-82
light 18/6 MH 400W
Circ fans and vent fans 24/7
Water farm with DWC mod (I have drip and air stones). I also added a sub. pump to drain the buckets and controller into the res to remix water. Not all the water drains out of the buckets, but at least 80% does. Pump runs 15 minutes every 2 hours.
I use BC Boost and Grow right now and a little B1 red. I have been spraying twice a day with Very High Output.


I think the plant looks good and my nutes are probalby too high. I was thinking of dropping to 500-600, but the growth and color looks pretty good.
