Pirating - How far do you go?
I used to have a friend who worked with one of the groups that did the pirating, and that was some good times. High quality stuff, as they had a friend in the theatre that let them setup and never get hassled.
As far as the pirating itself goes... personally, I follow what the OP said. If its a good game, or movie, or cd, then I will buy the original version of it down the road. But I refuse to pay for a game or movie or cd, and then not be able to return the thing if I dont like it. Thats retarded. So since the stores wont let me return shitty games and movies and music, I have to take the only other method available to me... pirating and buying the item if I enjoy it.
And Stinky, find a group that does solid good releases, and stick with them. It makes it alot nicer instead of the crapshoot you get when you just grab whatever is available. =)

Pirating - How far do you go?
Movie Theaters: I go there for really good movies.
DVDs: My friend has this Blockbuster deal where he has unlimited rentals for $10 a month. He rents everything and copies them. He has like 200 DVDs on his shelf, almost all copied.
It is way better watching movies on a nice LCD TV with 5.1 sound with all sorts of custom treats/drinks. It sucks that we're forced to go to the movie theater for the newest movies.
Games: I pirate all single player games --- buy multiplayer games
Other software: pirated
Music: pirated
Yeah, I'm a pretty big pirate.
I am also a huge fan of open-source software. It's BS that companies will ask $15 for a program I could write in a couple days.
P.S. I am a college student with no job, I can't afford to pay for everything. If I added up all the games movies and music on my computer I ever downloaded it would be like $10000 to buy legally.
P.S.2. I am smart about downloading, I use software to block the RIAA/MPAA. It lowers my chances of being caught to like 0.0000001%.all posts under this user name are purely for role playing purposes

Pirating - How far do you go?
I download all my stuff. Music, movies, games, programs.. I never really feel guilty about it either. I support my favorite artists by buying merchandise and going to concerts. When a movie comes out in theatre I usually get a good copy days later through plenty of trial and error. I find movies are expensive. They charge too much for the ticket. A small pop and popcorn runs you like $14. And everything is a madhouse. You can sit at home, in your own privacy - smoke a fat joint in front of the big screen and watch any movie you want for free. The actors make millions from their movies, and I spend $50 to go watch it with my girlfriend.. So no guilt.

Pirating - How far do you go?
I do download most of my music and most of the movies I get, however, this is only because I don't have money. If I did, I would certainly pay for every CD I own. Artists and actors (as well as directors and sound technicians, etc) spend a lot of time, effort, and money making them so, they deserve to get fucking loaded. However, I think I sort of make up for what I download because of all the concerts and movies I go to. A new movie comes out, and I see it two or three times in the theatre.. Why? I enjoy watching a movie on the huge screen, with different friends, or maybe with my girlfriend (in which case we don't pay much attention to the movie, so it's okay to watch it multiple times :jointsmile
And along with concerts, I also buy a lot of merchandise. However, given the money, I would certainly pay for movies and music. But that's just me.

Pirating - How far do you go?
I have absolutely no problem getting games, movies, music, or anything for free. Stealing? Yeah, sure. Do I care? No. Do I care if God sends me to hell for it? No.
I already have enough debt from the sinister and scheming banking system we have today. So why would I go and get into more debt because I wanted to be happy for awhile, playing a game, watching a movie, or listening to a movie?
The funny thing is, the RIAA and the MPAA cannot do anything about the piracy of their music and movies. Nor can the game industry do anything. Sure, they can sue a person... but no matter what, people will always steal it. And so will I. I don't care... I make a fucking shit wage at my job, at the moment. That doesn't mean that I'm going to deprive myself of entertainment, simply because I cannot afford it. Though, I can afford something free. Plus, if it sucks, I didn't just waste any money. The only thing I may have wasted was time downloading it.
These are also the people that want the Internet to be regulated. ROFL!
Steal data as much as you please, ladies and gentlemen. The industry is too corrupt with greed anyway. Let's weed out the greedy motherfuckers, and let the passion of the arts reign again, instead of money reigning over the passion.

Pirating - How far do you go?
You're all a bunch of crooks.
In my opinion, our favorites actors and actresses still receive the feedback necessary to continue evolving their careers, so we're not hurting our dearest Johnny Depp or the vibrant Jessica Alba, who are both horrible if I do say so myself. As for music, I am in the clear, because I am positive Hendrix and Morrison don't mind. Same goes for Manzarek, Densmore, Krieger, Redding, and Mitchell.
And anyway, what is the worst that can happen? If the music industry collapses, it will only set us free from self-involved pretenders. You gotta listen for the feeling music is supposed to give everyone, otherwise you're just a tourist.
