Pirating - How far do you go?

It's always a big talk for the movie industry.

I personally hate going to the theater to see a movie. It costs a fortune, you get rude/noisy people unless you go at obscure times and then you still might. If you have to use the bathroom or something you miss part of the movie, and it doesn't matter if I go before hand or not, I'm guaranteed to have to go if I go to the theater. Oh it drives me crazy. I also don't like paying for something I don't even know if I'll like or not.

I instead love watching movies in the comfort of my own home on my TV and surround sound system with my own snacks and drinks, by myself alone with no interruptions.

So I've stopped going a few years back, instead I will wait a few days - week for a decent pirated version of the movie. Download it and watch it. Why should you invest money into something you may not even like or want? Seriously I mean you don't buy a car without taking it for a test drive so why a movie or a game?

If I like it after seeing it then when it comes out I will go buy the real deal when it comes out on DVD and support the makers of the film. However I think it's real shitty of a person if they like a film (or a video game) to never give the people that made that movie possible a dime of your money. $5-$20 for a lifetimes right to watch the movie is not much money at all. Complete pirates annoy me. Even games I do the same if I like it I go out and buy it.

I've had people tell me that I'm just as bad as those pirates that never buy a movie, but thing about this is it has most certainly had me give more of my money to the movie/DVD/Gaming industry. Because of this method I've been able to watch movies I never would have even glanced at before, played games I would have never played and given them a chance because I wouldn't want to spend my money on something I wasn't sure I was going to like this has allowed me to see more and so when I go buy movies I shell out more money to buy more.

Well, to make up for this sin, why not send the appropriate funds to the directors/game developers of the pirated movies/software you watch/play.

i don't pay and i don't feel guilty either... if it's something so good i buy it so i have the original real liscense paid for copy... otherwise, fuck it....

alot of movies these days are pure shit and are certainly not worth what they want to charge you for them.

they get plenty of buisness from other people And don't bother with the 'what if everyone thought that way' argument for two reasons, first, not everyone would, second, there is still alot of computer illiterate people who think of email as an amazing thing. they can get their revenues from those people

i have no conscience about pirating, when i was younger i was deprived music cuz i couldn't go out and buy a cd every other day, i actually got one about once a month if that... when i heard of napster... well lets just say it opened me up to a whole new world.

Cinemas just keep putting their prices up for bullshit films that should never have been made.

Saying that i dont get pirate copies. I just wait to see what other people think of it and if it sounds good i'll buy it on DVD.

My initial regards to pirating music/film, etc. could be observed in my documents folder...they're not righteous in the biblical sense, I can say that much. Nowadays, you could not catch me strolling into a movie theater. I think I have gone once in the past year or so, and that was to see the premier of the movie 300-I should have just downloaded it. The movie theater experience is always unpleasant for me.

^^agreed, the movie theatre experience is terrible, hundreds of 13yr olds throwing cokes and popcorn while screaming thier heads off just waiting for thier moms to come pick them up afterwards.

much easier to download a movie and see for urself if its good or not instead of paying $8.

You get those too? Oh man--and school just began! You can expect the movie theater to be packed with teenagers every weekend until summer break, when they loiter on a daily basis. I just don't buy into the movie industry biz anymore. Sure, the movies look exciting but sitting down and watching one with hundreds of strangers is not exactly my idea of "movie time." Get me some DVD-R's, popcorn and my junked-up home-clothes and I'm happy. That's just me though. Being in the "scene" played out for me when I dropped high-school. But these young kids have the opportunity of a lifetime to bond with their peers, enhance social skills, you name it! Just good 'ol kid stuff.

Yeah the movies have become a troubled place to go. Theatre munkeys are always just chillin' in the lobby staring at everyone that comes in.

And one of my biggest pet peeves is when people talk and kick my seat in the movies. I always end up getting pissed as fuck and jumping up and telling the people to quit kicking my seat or "I'll fucking kill you". That usually fixes the problem.
