Xbox 360 Failure
Quit providing false information.
They would repair the one he had for starters, it's a simple fix (heat sink related) however if they sent him a new one from Microsoft it is almost guaranteed to be one of the latest models which does not contain the faulty heat sink issue.
It sucks that it broke and it will suck not being able to play it for a bit, but if he gets it in ASAP he could have it back within a month and the console will better than when it was new.

Xbox 360 Failure
The reason that your xbox 360 has this problem is a design flaw by Microsoft that when your xbox overheats it causes the graphics processor and/or the CPU to lift off of the circuit board. The specific problem is related to the clamps used on the xbox 360 heatsinks (the part that cools off the CPU and graphics processor)

Xbox 360 Failure
yo i thought the problem was due to the processign chips, which is why all the new consoles have the new falcon chips. so it would make sense they would just swap the mobo with a refurbished new one, then repair his to do the same.
it is unlikely they would just replace it with an old one so the same thing would happen. this makes no buisness sense as it cost them to repair and they arent making that much money as it is from consoles.

The test indicated that some Xbox 360s, equipped with Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology (TSST) DVD players, scratch DVDs spontaneously, even when the Xbox 360 is placed on a stable surface, rendering the DVDs unplayable.
it's the disc drive (i knew there was something else)
and no this isn't an attack as i really do not wish to stir up this crap again, i just wanted to show Melkane what i was talking about. (i'm not one for unbacked claims)
