    I always say thanks, in some way or another, and I mean it

    95% of the time i use them becuase i feel obligated/to not be rude... especially thank you with friends and family, i just assume my thanks are already known.
    Even though you say it just because you fell obligated to, even though you are thankfull, doesnt that still mean that you say it and do mean it..??

    My mom really never raised me to much on the please and thank you, but she always put great importance in saying your sorry. I never really understand, I mean once something is done and happened, saying "Im sorry" really doesnt make me forget what happened.

    i suppose i should have said say it, mean it and do it of your own free will

    My family was HUGE on the manners thing, and I'm glad they were. I cringe when I go into a place with a friend and they aren't courteous.
