Do you have an excessive talker in your life?

I had a friend with ADD. It was pretty annoying.

My girlfriend has "all of the above" and it frustrates me because I never know if I should tell her to hold on for a second or listen to her, because what I'd hear, if I didn't listen to her, wouldn't be important. :stoned:

I'm with you Coelho, I get pacified by tranquil silence when others would be pacified by filling the audio space with music or other noise. Music has specific effects on brain activity, such as a certain song was played more than once when a certain person was near, and hearing it again provokes a strong nostalgic feeling for that person or people, etc. I've noticed that most genres of music elicit their own unique neurological response, independent of personal attachments. One notable exception would be classical. I tend not to feel emotion with classical, but strokes of intellectual and creative activity in other areas of my brain.

When it's silent the roles are reversed and I am vulnerable to my brain's whimsy. If it starts going in the direction of trivial, immediate personal concerns I can shift it toward the ethereal, philosophical, political, scientific, etc. I don't claim to be any influential pundit in those areas, but I enjoy the science of thought.

I can relate to this... I dont talk all the time, but I hate absolute silence (not like silence out in nature, but that silence of a dead room indoors) It makes my ears literally ring. Although thats cause I have Tinnitis, which is a condition resulting from a slight hearing impairment).

It makes me hate silence indoors, I try to keep some music playing at all times if I can, even quietly. But still, someone that talks all the time, even if most of what they say is intelligent and not rambling it's bound to get annoying.

I've also got tinitus, although it's not something that bothers me coz i've always got some sort of sound in the background. I cant stand the high pitch ring - although i cant really call it a ring - i just cant describe it.

Everyone knows people like that. I feel like i know too many. The funny thing is, i'm sure someone feels the same way about all of us too. At least one person.

my friend talks alllllllllll the time about how hard up she is, how hard her life is about all her troubles. i always go see her when im down. it always perks me up she doesnt really have any problems. she just wishes she does i gotta keep tabs on her though she can draw you in real easy
