    Coffeeshops & Concerts

Just wondering...are there any coffeeshops around the north Dallas, Collin County area that feature coffee drinks rather than alcohol, and have live music or concerts? I've been to the Dunn Bros. coffeeshop on Beltline in Addison, and the live music quality there has always been....shall we say....lacking. They get local acts that can't really get paying gigs anywhere.

I'd love to find a place that serves all the coffee drinks and has good live music, and I hear from others that there is a market for it. Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Onward!

Have you ever been to that place called Obzeet down on Preston Road, Onward? It's a decorative furnishings store, and it's also a restaurant/cafe, but they do serve coffee and all sorts of fancy desserts, and they often have good musical acts, too. Its address is Dallas, but it's just barely south of the Plano line (south of the George Bush tollway) on the east side of Preston Road in a sort of structure that looks like it was once a frame house.

Hi Birdgirl. You know, I've driven by that Obzeet place a thousand times, but never stopped. I wasn't sure what it was, since it appears to be a furnishing store of some sort.

I seem to recall a store by that same name at the Grapevine Mills mall a few years ago. I remember it having African themed furnishings. Is that the same company?

I wonder...have you ever visited any of the local hookah bars? Such as the Velvet Hookah in Addison or Jasmine Hookah? Maybe we could get a caravan from the mall near us and all go have a fun evening together.

    Have a good evening.
    Onward!

I know it's not exactly the location you are looking for, but there is a place in Colleyville off of 121 and Hall Johnson called Buon Giorno. They have live music on the weekends and better coffee than Starbucks IMHO.

starbucks has some of the better beans i have had
but STARBUCKS MAKES THE WORST CUP OF BLACK COFFEE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!
infact most coffee houses i have been to make bad coffee
i only drink coffee black and nothing in it.
i had a friend tell me that you shouldnt go to coffee houses and get plain coffee, it should be some mocha crap. i hate room temp or cold coffee
to me its supposed to be hot and full of caffine

You know, I don't know if there's more than one Obzeet or not. I thought the one on Preston was the only one but maybe there was another.

I've always sorta wanted to try a hookah, but I'm having a devil of a time with allergies and asthma lately. I'm a little scared to get around the smoke, even if it's smooth smoke. I'm scheduled to have my heart ablated back into its proper rhythm in early October. If all goes well with that, my breathing ought to be better after that and I might be able to take smoke again!

Sometime when you're over on Preston, you oughta just drop into Obzeet like you're looking at the decorative stuff. The cafe part is in the back and spreads out onto a deck. On fall evenings, it's a fairly neat place to be. At least for the non-allergy sufferers!
