Shit... even the small town in Southern Maryland that I lived in had some crazy shit go down in the time during and after I lived there.

The streets of the world can be dangerous places and harbor some of the craziest shit..drug dealers, exhibitionists, gang members, whacked out people on hard drugs, prostitutes, police, military, helicopters, wild dogs, racoons, traffic, drunks, homeless... not at all; I live in a small country village. Theft and crimes are really low. Yeah, I think it's a safe place to live and to toke.

You're either joking or your delusional. You don't think a VAST majority of gun owners would give up their guns if the punishment for possession of a firearm was stiffened drastically, like, say, to a death sentence? Are you serious? For that matter, you said you still smoke weed even though it's illegal, but would you still smoke weed if possession of a gram meant a death sentence? I think not.

Yeah... a majority of legal gun owners would. But illegal gun owners are a completely different story. They have that gun because they are ready to kill in the first place. And whether they know it or not, if you are ready to kill, you are ready to die.

So the people with nothing to lose and everything to gain, will happily use a gun on a man guaranteed to be unarmed due to gun laws. And there will be nothing anybody could do about it.

Well as long as so many people agree with your idea that we're all safer if everyone's packing, I'm not so sure that you (or I) will live to see tomorrow. Sure, this country was built on the gun (and slavery as well, though I don't think that makes it acceptable), mainly because it was basically under martial during its early years due to the lack of law enforcement and prevalence of Native Americans who weren't about to give up their land without a fight (and rightly so). The federal government barely had the funds to function on any level, much less protect each individual citizen.

Nowadays, the government is MUCH better equipped to protect it's citizens, as evidenced by the billions of dollars they are able to throw at the so-called war on drugs. Wrap your head around this: the positive of being able to go and quite easily buy a gun to "protect yourself" is far outweighed by the negative of the fact that it's WAY WAY easier for a criminal or potential criminal to buy a gun if the government makes it legal. That might not have been the case when this country was founded, but it certainly is now, and has been for some time.

I live in Chicago by the projects so yeh it's kinda dangerous at night but convenient since my dealer lives right next door to me!

Well where I live it use to not be much of a problem with crime, but over the last 5 years with more and more people from up North coming here( no offense to you if you live up north but, your crime is moving down here with you) their has been a great increase in murder and gang violence here.

One would think... but I have learned by association that most people that would own a gun illegally in the first place would just be pissed off that their shit was siezed. And commit more crimes to get more money to buy more guns illegally. And there will ALWAYS be an illegal gun market. Because there will always be arms embargoes and restrictions.

Yes... very dangerous in fact... if anyone here watched the movie "City of God", well, i live in the very city where that history happened (cause the movie is based upon some real facts)... so you can figure it out... its safer to stay at home.

Iv watched it meny times, Its a brilliant film and it shows u some real life shit. There living in some real harsh conditions..

Scotland is getting real bad for murders, shootings and really bad for stabbings.. Glasgow is real bad for people getting stabbed..

Scotland has the second highest murder rate in western Europe, it has been reported.

The new figures, which show that Scots are three times more likely to be killed unlawfully than people living in England and Wales, come just days before the country hosts an international conference on violence prevention.

World Health Organisation (WHO) statistics show the country has 1.75 homicides per 100,000, the Sunday Times reported.

Of the 21 European countries covered by the figures only Finland has a higher rate, at 2.16 per 100,000, it said. That compares with 0.74 in France, 0.63 in Germany and 0.49 in the rest of the United Kingdom.

Scotland has kept second spot in the table, despite the rate falling from the 2.23 recorded by the previous WHO survey in 2002.

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said he did not believe Scotland is an overwhelmingly violent country and is not the worst off internationally.

He said: "But clearly Scotland does have its own very real problems, not least the high levels of alcohol-fuelled violence in our homes and on our streets, and the long-standing issue of knife crime.

"Yet, violence is preventable, not inevitable. And the Scottish government is determined to take action to tackle the problem, including the longer term work needed to challenge the culture of violence that prevails in too many parts of Scotland."

Mr MacAskill will open a three-day WHO conference on violence prevention at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Fife, on Tuesday. The conference will be attended by 200 experts from around the world.
