gnats
Morning,
Just noticed yesterday a few gnats in the general area of the flower box. I don't know if they were actually inside or just flying around, however just in case...
Can they cause a big problem?
I have heard that putting a 1 inch layer of playsand on top of your soil will help kep bugs from burying into the soil and laying eggs. Is there ay validity to this?

you can flush the soil with neem oil or gnatroll
sand on top does help, yellow sticky traps, work well
get more air movement on your plants, the gnats wouldnt be there
if you didnt have damp soil
