break your glass pipes ?

Hi, I just wanted to get people's opinions on this. Not real concerned about it, because I'm going to start vaporizing soon, but still mildly curious.

In my experiences, glass pipes pretty much always get broken or lost. I'm not sure whether they get broken more than lost though. And this isn't just me, it's happened to people I've known too.

Anyways, my personal opinion as far as glass goes, is this. If you have glass, keep it at home and don't ever leave the house with it, or it will get broken. But even if you keep it at home there's a chance it will get broken or lost anyways ( like my last 40 $ double bubbler did a few weeks ago, indoors). I really am careful.

I just don't have the same experience (or I feel that I don't) with metal, and on one hand I appreciate the texture and aesthetic beauty of glass and how smooth it is, but now I'm wondering if I'll ever buy another one again considering vaporizers seem like such a better option.

So here's my question, what has your experience been with breaking glass?

ive had one glass piece broken but it was single blown and my friend dropped it...but it was a 80 dollar piece cuz it was very intricate...so i had him buy me a less intricate but double blown piece...had it for about 2 and a half years now...dropped more than a few times and not a crack or chip on it...

broken a few but I always smoke with glass. Carry a small 10 dollar peanut so I can toss if needed. I blow glass so I got so much glass peices, I find glass is able to last as long as u want it if you take care of it, dont smoke on concrett, move to the grass, dont put it on your knee while you break up bud, and dont throw it around.

ive only broke one pipe.
it was a tank of a pipe i purposely threw it down when i stopped smoking a while back.
i priviously had dropped in on concrete and nothing happened.
no chips or damage whatsoever.
idk how you could break a pipe if your careful enough.
just done be stupid.

id rather smoke glass cause of flavor.

Yeah I broke something recently. I told the story on another thread so I jacked it and pasted it here:


It's different if the item is new, like I had a percolator and it was sweet but shatterd about 10 days after I bought it. I felt nothing, didn't even want the kid responsible to replace it. But this guy, T-Bong, fell off of an ill-founded spot on an ottoman and hit the rim of the bathtub and from my view on the toilet it seemed shattered.

But after I looked at the aftermath I realized it was in exactly four neat glass pieces with ground zero at a spot at the top of the water chamber that doesn't need to be water tight. The Red Bowl and slide were perfectly intact. I realized I could easily use epoxy resin and restore the bong to its normal functional state.

Those few minutes while I finished pooing, not realizing the minimal damage that actually occurred, were surreal and devastating. There are so many memories embodied in this masterpiece that I've had for 2.5 years. I would not accept that all the dru-hunk idiots I had handed it to all those months were able to miraculously hand it back to me intact, and I broke it on the john, not seeing it fall in time to catch it because I was staring at a time magazine.

My glass piece never had, and never will leave my property.
Yes glass pieces do break, it's just why you have to be extra careful.

I bought my first glass piece about 3 months ago (RooR bong). I like to think I take really good care of my stuff, so I'm not too worried about breaking it. It doesn't leave my apt and I'm real careful with who uses it, hopefully it will last a long time! :bonghit:

I've had...6 glass pipes total.

The first one, I broke it.
Second one, I broke it, as well.
Third one...was broke when I got it (given to me, the carb was broke)...
But then I broke it 4 months or so down the line (shattered on the sidewalk)
Fourth one, I gave away, never liked it.
Fifth one...bought it as a Christmas gift to myself, 2006...dropped it and broke the next day.
Sixth one...I still have. I've had it since the day Aqua Teen Hunger Force came out in theatres. I never leave home with it, always keep it safe. I will make sure to be as careful as I can. Plus...all carpet house. =)

I want to just buy an acrylic bong, with a bowl thats big enough; that way I would never have to worry about breaking it, and they're 10 bucks if I lose it.

fuck this yo. i was just gettin stoned, set my pipe down at my fan on the windowsil. i was puttin some shit away and i heard this crash. i look and my sherlock glass pipe is broken in 2 places so theres 3 peices. the fns base is all slopey and it slipped off

only 3 pieces? dude you could easily fix it. It wouldn't look the same, with the crack marks
