    "Maturity"

So, I'm sitting here stoned, as well I should be, as I've been working hard these past 3 hours. You see, I just got done writing 4 pages of notes (2 back to back) about the beginnings of sociology as a study guide for a test tomorrow in Sociology and then doing 20 questions in math, then taking a 35 question pre-test for an actual test tomorrow in class.

So, I'm sitting here stoned, and it dawned on me just how crazy this thing called "maturity" is; but, I mean that in two way: not just the ordinary maturity that comes with age, but also the maturity that comes with being a cannabis smoker for just under 4 years.

When I was 14, I thought I was as mature as I would ever be; that I could never be any more mature because nothing, especially myself, would ever change. These past few months I've been realizing just how wrong I was. At the tender age of 20, I am beginning to see just how much people really do change in such short periods of time (counting years as short periods).

And to end this short little speech, when I first started smoking, and probably the first 2 years I smoked, I always used to think how "cool" it was to be able to smoke, or to smoke; I used to think I was cool, though please believe me I didn't smoke to BE cool ( I am no such sad stereotype ), but it was cool being around my friends, anywhere from 2-20 of us just sitting around toking. I used to think it was a defiant act that made me stand out, that made me different. Now I realize smoking is not something to flaunt at the world, to let everyone know I smoke with weed shirts or rasta beanies...what now sets me apart is my ability to smoke, and to "blend in" while being able to truly stand out in my head.

PEACE TO ALL, AND HIT THAT JOINT/BONG/BOWL/BLUNT!!

I believe maturity to be able to handle moral dilemmas and or life rationally. To be able to postulate how to solve your problem effectively. To be able to give advice and to listen. The ability to look back, self consciously, and see things in a new light then we could at that particular age. Smoking cannabis, allows us to maturity, it exposes the truth and it exposes the lies. Those who help uncover the bias and unjusice of this, are cool.

I think moments when i'm stoned and alone thinking about certain issues i get alot more mature about them.It allows me to relax and go back and look at some things differently and learn from it.It also helps me to face certain issues I may face in the future better.Just to deal with life's general problems and all those big challenges we face from time to time along the road.Smoking really helps me focus on some things and just learn and grow from it.

Exactly.... thats why I get on children that come on here whining about getting caught because they did something stoopid. OR they come on here bragging about almost getting caught. OR bragging about getting stoned while they are out driving with their friends.

A little common sense goes a long way......and that comes with real maturity.

Yeah, Rogue, you really said it best; thats what, I guess, I was trying to describe, however, I wasn't as articulate...late at night, tired, been studying for hours, gimme some credit, ya?? haha

But, yeah, maturity is all those things, and also, definitely, having a little common sense along the way. I remember posting on these boards about being caught, and about almost being caught...like I said, I guess I thought it was "cool," ya know? Nowadays, I realize that it is a very scary thing to have happen to any adult that is, otherwise, completely responsible in every other facet of their life. It's not something to brag about, but to cry about, being arrested for something as simple as cannabis possession.

Anyway, I really liked your people's ideas on the matter. Glad you replied! Guess I'll let this topic die, now, with dignity.

    Unless someone revives it!
