Yes, I have heard him talk of his "messages from God"...but how is that negative when you compare it to:

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | Iran's president - his own words <--source for my argument.

The Iranian President's view on....

Israel:
"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map".

The Holocaust:
"Theh have created a myth today that they call the massacre of Jews and they consider it a principle above God, religions and the prophets.

**The holocaust just isn't a myth dude...come on. He thinks it's a myth cause they didn't fully succeed, and that is just disgusting and inhumane...

Human Rights:
We neither oppress anyone nor are we prepared to submit to anyone's oppression. We want justice, peace and security for all nations. We are defenders of human dignity all across the world.
**As Penn and Teller would say...BULLSHIT!
Acutally..they oppress Jews, women, homosexuals, and anyone who denounces Islamic laws and custom....not to mention pulling shit like taking British soldiers hostage..

And to THClord - you make good points, but don't you think that economic power can be quite as vast a strength against military? They are different powers sure, but quite related if you think of it..just a question..wondering what you think.

Beliefs(re: religion)
"Belief in a saviour is universal. It is the pivot of our beliefs as Muslims and Iranians. We believe that an offspring of the prophet, may peace be upon him, will be the ultimate saviour. His name and attributes are clear. He will come and will administer ultimate justice."

**The ultimate justice is wiping israel off the map...among other things.

I have never seen George Bush say that some religious prophet will show up and wipe out a country that he hates because of its religion and culture. He simply said...Hell, Iraq is dangerous, and I'm gonna go in there and eliminate that danger"..not promised some religious figure would come do it for him. Possibly not the best analogy but it gets the point across.
You see, the US has a very apparent religious right, but unlike Islam, it does not follow the notion that you need to kill...maybe in mass amounts, to secure you..and preach that religion is the basis for such treatment. Their religion is like a way of life. To ALL of them! Here in the West, there is more of a separation of church and state. We are slowly evolving away from that.

You can still argue Bush has quite a religious emphasis, but it doesn't compare to the Iranian President's. Iran has an ayatolla...I don't think the US has an equivalent to that...correct me if wrong?
