That argument is valid if the sole purpose of performing the good acts is for the sheer pleasure of seeing someone happy. To me, the enjoyment of making someone happy is secondary to them being happy.

My mom sometimes gives me shit for doing this for others that does not inconvenience me much, if at all, but I really like helping people for free. Like if I help a friend move out, I don't accept money from him, just doing my part to help humanity and stuff.
