I have always been rather altruistic, from charitable giving to worthy causes to helping friends and strangers. I'm an agnostic, not an atheist - I can't reasonably say that there is, for sure, no God. I just haven't seen evidence there is, so I reserve judgement. So, whatever good I do, it's not to get any God points or buy myself a line ticket to heaven. In fact, according to that article, I do good because it gives me pleasure to do so. Which is about right - it *does* give me pleasure to see someone happier and know that I had something to do with it.

My mom sometimes gives me shit for doing this for others that does not inconvenience me much, if at all, but I really like helping people for free. Like if I help a friend move out, I don't accept money from him, just doing my part to help humanity and stuff. I don't let people take advantage of me, I just like to make other people unexpectedly happy, like giving free bud to a friend who can't afford it as much. Modern science now has begun to bat down that Rating: 5
