I am pissed off at the fact that the Falcons aren't kicking him off the team. That is bullshit.

And speaking of racism in the courthouse, I totally agree. It isn't a racism issue. If you wanna go deep about it, Rodney King was made into a race issue which it shouldn't been. There is the video of the LAPD beating the shit out of him, but maybe if King wasn't on PCP and lifting cops over his head and throwing them that then the LAPD wouldn't have had to beat him in the first place. For real.

I believe the reason the Falcons haven't kicked him out yet is due to Money issues.

I just want to point out that it took 18 posts before anyone addressed this line. Despicable. I want to comment further but I don't know where to even start. I'll just say to everyone that reads this and to those that have commented above, that if you sincerely see racial issues in these kinds of "us vs. them" terms, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

Now about Michael Vick, the thing I'm most struck by is how unbelievably stupid he was. He's a national celebrity with a $130 million contract and $40-$50 mil in endorsements, and he essentially financed a small organized crime operation and left all the evidence on his property. Plus, the dogfighting betting was apparently for like a maximum of 10 grand a fight, which is literally pocket change for him.

Lets compare this to Pete Rose, who bet on baseball with a bookie and did a mediocre job of hiding it, made MUCH MUCH less money than Michael Vick and bet like up to $100,000 a week. What Michael Vick did was basically the same as if Pete Rose ran is own illegal bookmaking operation, kept extensive records that he left carelessly strewn around his vacation house, and wouldn't accept bets over $10. Ridiculous. Stupidity that is truly awesome in quality and magnitude.

I'll also say that a big part of the racial aspect of this is because of Atlanta. Literally EVERYTHING that happens in Atlanta is a racial issue. You can't cross the street without it having some sort of racial aspect to it. I only lived there about 6 months and the racial tension was suffocating.

Though to be fair to Atlanta, its racial situation has its good sides to. Mainly that because there are so many of both white and black people, and neither is really in a minority position (blacks because of population, whites because of power and influence), that you get a whole lot of white and black people just being cool and treating each other like normal people, which is really badass to experience.

This is some of the most ignorant shit I've ever read. Open up any history book and you'd realize that this kind of bullshit is what the majority of slave owners used to rationalize their barbarism. "Oh,well we feed em and house em and don't beat em too much, so who gives a fuck about liberty or freewill"

The fact that you brought this shit just proves that racism still exists. People are just better at being politically correct these days.

That said, the people saying that the Vick case is race based are mostly just soapboxing. They're taking advantage of a high profile case involving a black man and using it to espouse their own political or social agenda. Vick fucked up and that's pretty much it. If a good ole boy like Jeremy Shockey was doing the same thing, I don't doubt that he'd be booked and crucified my animal lovers just the same.

People who are calling it a racial agenda only make it harder to have any rational discourse about any actual racism thats going on. Same shit happened during the Imus incident. Is Imus a douchebag? Mos def, but being a senile old douchebag with a lame sense of humor doesn't make you worthy of being a focal point on a debate on race issues.

Of course if this thread is any proof, you'll tend to gain a pretty good insight into what people really believe anytime the concept of 'racism' is brought up. "We're not racist but these damn <insert race> need to stop being so uppity!"

Fuckin' A Lankan Lion! You speak nothing but the truth. That there is five paragraphs of solid gold.

This thread disgusts me. There's such unbelieveable bullshit in some of these posts, I can't even start seriously commenting without feeling like I have to write a whole discourse on race. People need to get there fucking minds right.

But what do you think reader?

It's funny, the guy who started this thread basically (inadvertently) did a pretty good job of how unable/unwilling the general white public is to recognize how much racism still runs rampant. I mean, how can anybody possibly read the original post without their very first reaction being outrage at the original poster's description of slavery. I honestly wish I had thought of posting something like this just to prove how much racism and lack of recognition of racism still exists, but this guy beat me to it.

This actually reminds me a lot of something Sasha Baron Cohen would do in a Borat skit. I could totally see Borat going up to some white people and saying something along the lines of "This Michael Vick is scum of earth, we should hang him from tree with rope around neck and let every citizen come and beat him with stick. Then we should attach him to cross and burn him at stake in the middle of Atlanta. Then we should go around and kill every chocolate-face we can find so we can be rid of the stupid animals." The same people who failed to speak out against the blatantly racist comments made by the thread starter would probably go along with Borat in such a situation. The bottom line is that if Distortion's post and the subsequent (lack of) reactions doesn't show you that racism most definitely exists to an extremely disturbing degree in this society, I don't know what would.
