I just want to point out that it took 18 posts before anyone addressed this line. Despicable. I want to comment further but I don't know where to even start. I'll just say to everyone that reads this and to those that have commented above, that if you sincerely see racial issues in these kinds of "us vs. them" terms, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

Now about Michael Vick, the thing I'm most struck by is how unbelievably stupid he was. He's a national celebrity with a $130 million contract and $40-$50 mil in endorsements, and he essentially financed a small organized crime operation and left all the evidence on his property. Plus, the dogfighting betting was apparently for like a maximum of 10 grand a fight, which is literally pocket change for him.

Lets compare this to Pete Rose, who bet on baseball with a bookie and did a mediocre job of hiding it, made MUCH MUCH less money than Michael Vick and bet like up to $100,000 a week. What Michael Vick did was basically the same as if Pete Rose ran is own illegal bookmaking operation, kept extensive records that he left carelessly strewn around his vacation house, and wouldn't accept bets over $10. Ridiculous. Stupidity that is truly awesome in quality and magnitude.

I'll also say that a big part of the racial aspect of this is because of Atlanta. Literally EVERYTHING that happens in Atlanta is a racial issue. You can't cross the street without it having some sort of racial aspect to it. I only lived there about 6 months and the racial tension was suffocating.

Though to be fair to Atlanta, its racial situation has its good sides to. Mainly that because there are so many of both white and black people, and neither is really in a minority position (blacks because of population, whites because of power and influence), that you get a whole lot of white and black people just being cool and treating each other like normal people, which is really badass to experience.
