Plastic is... mostly Carbon and Hydrogen atoms... chain linked into long-ass molecules.
Your "phenolic acids and terpenoids" will **maybe** react with plastic in some wierd way.
NOT that the reaction will be big... I mean, maybe something here and there... but nothing "visually" obvious.

I think the "porousness" of the plastic is of more of a concern... as inside those pores... other stuff can accumulate... probably, past phenolic acids and terpenoids.

Again, a reaction will be something very small... nothing to go like "Wow shit! Look what happened!"
