Curing Question
I was reading the FAQ section and came upon this:
"The preferred container for curing and storage of cannabis buds is an all glass jar, with a large opening for easy access. Wide-mouth canning jars with glass bodies and tops with a rubber seal are an ideal choice. Less preferred are small-mouth canning jars with metal or plastic lids. Generally try to avoid all plastics in direct or close contact with your cannabis. Generally these materials are slightly porous and the phenolic acids and terpenoids can react with plastics, but not with glass."
I have some large, plastic, air-tight containers from target that I used for my last grow. I didn't know this at the time and was curious as to what you experts think about the above statement. How does it affect the grow exactly?
Any and all info is greatly appreciated! :rasta:Delta.9 Reviewed by Delta.9 on . Curing Question
I don't think you'll see any ill-effects from using plastic.
You should avoid them... but they're not going to turn your Cannabis Cup Buds into dirt-brick weed.
You want more exact than
these materials are slightly porous and the phenolic acids and terpenoids can react with plastics, but not with glass.

Curing Question
Well, what exactly does that mean (is what I should've said)?
How does it affect it? I'm not a scientist so I honestly don't get what that statement means, I just know it affects it. Get me?

Curing Question
Get you.
Plastic is... mostly Carbon and Hydrogen atoms... chain linked into long-ass molecules.
Your "phenolic acids and terpenoids" will **maybe** react with plastic in some wierd way.
NOT that the reaction will be big... I mean, maybe something here and there... but nothing "visually" obvious.
I think the "porousness" of the plastic is of more of a concern... as inside those pores... other stuff can accumulate... probably, past phenolic acids and terpenoids.
Again, a reaction will be something very small... nothing to go like "Wow shit! Look what happened!"
My take on it.
As you can see, I'm the same as you... no scientist.

Curing Question
After smoking approximately 2 tons of weed in my life, I have no ill effects from all the plastic baggies and tubs and whatever else weed is stored in.
The glass containers are going to much more air tight than plastic will be.
The author of that I am sure is referring to long term storage. While drying, I use paper bags anyhow, then switch to glass jars for the final cure.
I prefer glass for long term storage.
Plastic will not affect your stash.
Just more mumbo jumbo to frett over if you ask me.

Curing Question
ya harddon is right plastic will only affect it in smaller ways like being more prone to leaking air and other things such as the keefe and crumbly parts of buds sticking to some types of plastic. I do exactly the same thing, dry in paper bags and cure in glass jars.

Curing Question
I am familiar with drying by hanging upside down in a closet and such, but not with paper bags. How does drying in paper bags work?

Curing Question
the bags absorb the moisture
curing is like maturing a cheese if its not done properly the cheese tastes bad
with bud its much the same curing makes the bud taste better if air can get in it can get out along with the flavour
