I agree that you shouldn't hold it against him for smoking weed, but lying to the government isn't the only people he lied to. He lied to his employer. The NFL is a job and should be considered one. They get paid millions upon millions of dollars to perform on the field and some would argue, their image and roll model image is important also. If I lied to my boss, and he found out, I would either get fired or a strict punishment. The NFL(the boss) gets lied to all the time and their "employees" get a slap on the wrist basically. In the real world, you break the rules and you get fired. In the NFL, you break the rules and you get fined $5000 which isn't even a percentage of what you make a year.

Athletes who make mistakes in the NFL and break NFL rules get a slap on the wrists, but once they breaks REAL WORLD rules, they are confronted by the real world punishments. These punishments are real.....not a slap on the wrist.
