    Cheap fan ideas? I need air flow!

    Hey peeps, my temps are too high right now so I looked into setting up one of those inline squirrel cage fans but apparently they cost a lot of $. Now I would gladly spend it for my babies but for some reason my wife doesn't see the added value.
    So what I need is a cheaper solution. The grow is a 430 watt, 4'x4'x4'. I am currently using fas to push around the air but i need to exhaust it somehow. Help!
    Thanks and I love you all!:jointsmile:

    you have to spend the $$$ if you dont control heat your grow wont be that good
    just eat the cost you will be happier.
    i would try a inline fan if you can convince your wife

    Look at Homedepot / Lowes ,
    Inductor brand ductfans - used as booster fans in long heatruns in houses .
    4in. = 160 cfm. - 20.00
    6in. = 250 cfm - 30.00
    Peace

    those inductor/booster fans from the depot are not worth a damn by themselves
    if you had a few cfls maybe
    atleast try squirl cage style fans their awhole lot cheaper try to find one of those stanley fans at the depot
    or maby one of
    WhisperLine Inlineā?¢ | iaqsource.com - Aprilaire, Honeywell, Trion Air Bear, Bryant, Carrier, Trane Filters and IAQ products
    ive heard real good thing about them and their sones(sound loudness) is the lowest ive seen,low power useage and a cheap price too:thumbsup:
    im about to order the 6" 340 cfm 1.7sones 98watts for$145
    you could prob get away with the 6" 240 cfm 1.4sones 57watts for$120
    smoke a fattie and beg the wife

    Awesome guys ty! My situation is not that bad. My temps are up to about 88-90 degrees in the canopy so I'm high but not that high. I think one or two of those booster fans strategicaly placed migh do the trick. Do you think I could attach a carbon filter to one? Or mabey they aren't strong enough. Thanks for the input you all rock!

    No scrubbers on the cheapies V/D ,
    They're weak when put under a load . I have an old c 13 cab. w/ a enclosed ballast 250 hps in it . I use 1 - 4 in. inductor to pull the heat outa the hood / it has glass , and a 2nd 4in. inductor up high = heat rises and just 7 or 8 - 2in. pvc passive intakes and temps are never over 80 - 84 .

    You can get around 500 cfm from one for about $35-40 bucks (just Google 'inline duct fans'), always get more than you think you need so losses to ducting/bends/etc still leaves you plenty of power.
