Seed Strain Review Books
Are Ed Rosenthal's "Big Buds" books all different.
Im researching cannabis and I have the #3 book but I notice there are several big names missing from his "latest" review book.
I dont want to buy the previous two books if they are just repeated verbatim to ad-nauseum.hybridracers Reviewed by hybridracers on . No, I believe they are all different- I've got #2- some of the basics are in that one, like The Pure and Blueberry.
Just so you know, many (most?) of the writeups in his book of buds series are the ones that the seed companies use on their sales sites anyway... just FYI...

agreed ... the photography in Ed's books are great, but the descriptions aren't much different from the vendors' claims ... and, it's printed in China, which I don't care for (gettin' a little Capitalist now, aren't we, Ed ?) ... $$ ...

hey stinky attic........
Tell me who has the best books on what strain does what and what is the best way to grow each strain they talk about.
Ive bought several books for my research study and I plan to purchase several more (Im guessing Ill have a mini library on the subject)
Also, if a book like Ed's says a plant reaches 5 feet what happens when you have a 4 foot tall grow box?

I've never seen any guides that specifically give growing information for each strain ... sounds like a great idea, though, I'd buy one ... keeping a plant short is done thru 'topping' and/or 'LST' (low-stress training) ... it's discussed throughout the Grow Forum ... I know, I'm not Stinky ... :smokin:

No I appreciate your answer...........
Here is the problem so far with Ed's Volume #3
He sets up the book with good basic information but thats where the problem lies........ITS BASIC.
When you get a Sativa that wants to grow 8 feet or better in height, I know there has to be a way to bonsai (for lack of a better term) the thing and keep its growth to a minimum.
What boggles me is that anyone would want a plant to grow so much when you should be trying to stunt it so it spends all of its days using energy to produce more flowers.
Sure the flowers can be a product of overall size but considering the stats on some large sativa for producing very little buds......Im dumbfounded.
Anyways the moral of the story here is that I really wanna know if I bought the two previous books that Id get to see more information and history on the other strains out there.
In #3 there is no white widow or great white shark or several others I assume (Im really really just begining my research into this subject.........sorry guys, cant really touch the chronic)
There is just so much I want to find out and I really want to know......I need a good list of books to purchase.....Im sure my collection has a bunch of repeats.
Ive got Jorge Cervantes, Horticulture bible(???) Ed Rosenthal (#3) Greg Green's Grow Bible and two others that I cant remember the names to right now.........but I have 5 more on order.
I am fascinated by it all and want to know all I can about all of it. Ill be researching every facet of this subject.

Well that is what we are here for! And as I've said, his descriptions can be found on vendors' websites as well, so all you need is to look up the strain online and you will find electronic versions of those books scattered about in bits and pieces.
Greg Green is an EXCELLENT writer IMHO. I value text over pics.
Height given is for an untopped plant. Indoors, topping or training is almost de rigeur.
