Garbage can stealth self watering planter
Heres a planter I make to help keep the little guys watered ..
Sorry for the bad drawing but can take a pic as mines in the ground.
I idea is to divide a large plastic garbage can in half with Chicker wire and a layer of screen window mesh. I use a rivit gun and rivit it around the inside .. Then just below that screen cut some holes in the can and again cover these with screen. Take 4 or 5 pieces of cotton rope and run through the divider screen. Fill the top with good soil.
Bury this all the way to the lip and stick the lid on till ready to plant. After you plant water a lot.. When the bottom fills to the side holes it will seep into the surounding ground but will hold 15 gal of water in the bottom. The water will wick to the growing soil. This will water your plants for about a week or more during dry spells with out having to spend to much time going to your plants.
After grow pull the roots out and add some soil, stick the lid on ad its safe for the winter and ready to go next spring...
