All depends on how you make it.. Theres many ways .. If you have a bunch of grow out in the back forty just take a blade and collect resin during the grow, Press it in a alum foil wraped cube while warm and let dry..

But if your more into the science of extraction of THC then I suggest a Soflex Extractor. And have attached a photo of my Extractor.

You need Pure Alcohol and I generally make my own by distilling a couple fifths of Bacardi 151 because Ever Clear or pure grain can't be had anywhere around here.

If you look at the photo the way refluxing works is that you run cold water through the Upper Condenser and use a coffee filter in the Middle Soxflex Extractor and fill with a couple very dry, very fine grind OZ's and fill the Lower Flask about 3/4 way with Alcohol. Sit the Lower Flash into a Big Kettle of Hot water just below Boil .

The Alcohol boils off at 190 deg so just heat the Kettle till its steaming but not boiling ( Best use a therm and set at 200deg)

The Alcohol evaporates and goes up the larger outside tube on the side of the Refluxer.. It condenses in the upper Condenser and drips into the pot in the Middle Refluxer and collects there untill it fills and hits a siphon tube ( the small one on the side of the Refluxer ) Which siphons off into the lower Flask where it repeats.

You run this rigg for about 6 hours untill the Alcohol is Clear as it siphons into the flask. At that point you have extracted ALL of the THC 5, 8 and 9 from the smoke along with a few inert tars.

You have a Flask with Alcohol and THC .. I use a Distillation rig but you can just sit the whole thing out to dry in the sun by pouring into a big glass bowl ( put a gauze over it to keep the critters out.)

But after you evaporate off all the alcohol take a bit of fine grind good bud ( not much needed ) just enough to add texture and mix with the Goo left over from the reflux run.

Block it up and let dry for a couple of days either in the sun or in a warm dry place..

It will be the Black Hash style and have a good cut texture. The hash flavor is superb and you get good weight hash for pot used ratios.

But for the Most pure variation I suggest using Butane. I make a extractor using a large screw top test tube that can hold 2 oz of fine grind smoke. I use a propane torch to heat the bottom and punch 3 or 4 holes through the glass with a wire. I drill a hold in the screw top and put a one hole rubber cork on the test tube with a glass tube about 2 inches long and screw on the top to hold cork in place with the glass tube sticking through the hole drilled in the top. Then use a coffee filter to hold the smoke and using 2 Large cans of Butane spray the butane through the smok in the test tube.

I make a bowl out of a single layer of Heavy Duty alum foil and float it in a kettle of hot water and spray the butane through the smoke and into the bowl. The Butane will instantlly boil and evaporate as it hits the hot bowl. Whats left is Hash Oil but a bit on the thick side due to also extracting a small amount of tar. I mix a small amount fine grind power pot onto the foil and mix well.. Block and let sit for an hour or so to finish drying and its the best of the best smoke you can get. Residue on the foil can be toked by heating with a lighter and taking a good hit of the smoke..
