    Sneaky advertisement

We all know that cigarette companies are no longer allowed to advertise their products for the simple reason that the advertisements they broadcast influence the youth and regular smokers to puff. However, we've all seen the anti-smoking commercials by Truth, and still the word is getting out about smoking. It's a very subtle strategy to get smoking on the minds of many. I see a anti-smoking commercial and I think, "I want a cigarette now."

There are many variations of these commercials. Some include imagery of firearms, sex, and milk. I know. How does milk influence you to smoke more? And frankly, I don't know. I haven't done my research. But still! I'm onto Phillip Morris and company. And the only reason suspicions are raised is because I notice the sneakiness of many other advertisements attempting to persuade your attention. So, if you're suspicious of a particular advertisement, ask yourself a few questions:

    1. Who is funding the commercial?
    2. Refer to question #1.

That's right. Whoever is handing out the dough is the one to focus on. I've seen Truth on television but have you ever seen them in public? Have you ever seen a graphic Truth commercial or one with potential to deter the youth from smoking? No. Most of them are a barrage of words...words which tell lies. Truth? I doubt it. Don't tell the truth. Show the truth is what I say! Thanks for reading. And post here if you suspect any other advertisement tactic.

I have my own views about Truth commercials, but I don't really think it is sneaky advertisement.

lol, you caught me, matt! To those who don't know, I just left Matt some rep for killing my thread. I'd apologize but I don't know what I'd be apologizing for exactly. I have the tendency of using words to force people into agreeing with me...kind of like the sneaky, subtle, bureaucratic advertisement tactics I'm talking about. What can I say? I'm strong in the area myself! Kind of eerie that I'm my own worst enemy and don't even know it.

I def. think they could broadcast a better commercial....wtf is that one about the milk its fucking ridiculous its funny to see what groups like that come up with such tactics seem foolish. Instead of using this why dont they show the true effects of things instead of just comparing all the time and saying stuff. I agree with you 100% Ganj

I don't know...it just seems to me that they could deter more people with grotesque imagery of blackened lungs, people with throat-holes, etc. They show gore and violence in movies, news, and everywhere else you watch. Why can't they show what smoking does to you in a commercial? Then again, who wants to think when they're watching television? Haha! I always hear that television is the enemy of thought but I guess it depends on the type of entertainment you watch? Some entertainment inspires thought and much of the rest is merely rhetoric like your family sitcoms, reality shows, etc., which thrive on our emotional responses and experiences. But I've gone off-topic.

They should put the video on youtube to 'Bush Doctor' by Peter Tosh as a commercial. I'd watch it everytime. What would i buy? Cannabis. Therefore, more people would buy cannabis, and eventually it will become legal, like it bloody should be.

When im the PM [hahahahaha, my fat hair arse] every househole will have a kilo of bud dilivered every morning - and it'd be illegal to badmouth weed.

I'd also bring executions back to deal with the idiots running around MY fucking gaff with guns and knives - if anyones going to get violent and teach some lessons it's ME.

Oh, pipedreams - if only. One day, one day!
