Does eating weed affect the liver? If so, how?

I am thinking of eating weed rather than smoking it for a change.

However, I am concerned about the effect on my liver. I am on several medications that I think could be hard on the liver as it is (Celexa and Xanax.) I don't drink alcohol because of these meds, I just smoke weed and I have no ill effects mentally or physically from the combo of weed + meds.

But...I have been experiencing some throat irritation and soreness. My throat has always been rather sensitive to irritation, germs, etc. I use a metal pipe and I am thinking harsh weed or my method of smoking is irritating my throat.

Anyway...I want to start eating weed. But I don't want to screw up my liver because there is likely already stress on it from the meds.

Any advice? Knowledge to share? I want to try this soon but want to find out if it's safe first.

    Thanks!

I eat two potent brownies every day. Doesn't seem to put any strain on my liver, but then again, I'm not on Celexa and Xanax. I'd say make a pan of brownies and eat one the first day, see how it goes. If no probs, eat two the next day, and keep going up until you reach the dosage you want, or you have any probs. I doubt you will experience any probs, but I'm no doctor, so take that with a shakerful of salt.

Do a Google on "cannabis and liver" and read what you find. It mostly talks about smoked cannabis, and it seems there is conflicting information out there. Some of the articles said that it could aggravate the damage caused by hepatitis C, but I found others that said it was beneficial, like this one., but that's not a surprise considering the pro-cannabis source of this info. They mostly all seemed to be referring to smoked cannabis.

One option you have is to have bloodwork that checks your liver function before you begin eating cannabis, then have it done again afterwards and see what effects it has on you personally. You're wise not to drink alcohol.
