    Hormones or not, flat screens are for fluoros and stadium screens are for HID. It's all about the shape of the light intensity. HID is round. Fluoros are flat. They radiate light in all possible directions, but the result is a flat layer of light intensity.

    Maybe that is the case with your average 4' fluoro. But my setup is all CFL spiral bulbs. I have a light meter and can tell you with out any doubt that the intensity is on a curve. Thats why I decided Stadium to begin with.
    But even with intense light on the lower stadium parts, Bud growth was the most limited.
    My fixture is 248W/18K Lumens(72L/W), Compared to HID I'm not at much of a loss(aside from localized intensity). Plus I have blue spectrum mixed in there.
    I'm not trying to be a snot, But if light from a candle radiates in all directions spherically then light from my round bulbs must also radiate a sphere of intensity.
    I agree that after arranging all my bulbs I had more of an oval of intensity. Maybe thats why it will work well for a flat??

    Yes I guess I was talking more about fluorescent tubes. I'm scratching my head a little, because unless you are using one bulb, or have several all aimed at the center, I can't picture a ball shaped light intensity. However I have to believe they guy that is standing right there with a light meter. I just hope you are measuring radiant flux and not lumens. And I didn't think you were trying to be a snot, and I hope you don't think I am. Just engaging in a little friendly weed discussion.

    Anyone working at a Lowe's or Home Depot is gonna usually be far too dumb to know what you are up to. Most people in the garden center don't even really know much about plants. Check out the the area where they have the bags of cement, pretty sure they have lime there. Can't recall seeing any in the garden area, but I'm in Arizona, and our soil is plenty buffered, so maybe it's a regional thing.

    Thanks scagster, But I already "bit the bullet" and walked into a garden & Feed supply and got every thing I needed. I decided that unless they followed me home or took my License info(I would not allow), I really was being overly paranoid. Also the time I went and couldn't find it, They had actually blocked that particular space when I was there.

    To opie, I'm sorry, I can never tell when something I type comes off the way I want it too. And its a foolish move to insult ones peers(Unless they really need it.LOL).
    Also if my contraption isn't on this log I'll Post it in a sec.

    Ya the only pic on this log is shoddy. This is whats up.
    its 24" Long. And I'm not sure what the shape is called(in reflector terms) Think "Parabolic" with out the center arch, soooo a ??"bolic"??. LOL.
    I'm too high. :jointsmile: :jointsmile: :jointsmile:

    Now that, is some pretty awesome stuff.

    Talk about DIY. That's one of the coolest reflector/light combos I've seen in awhile. I'm guessing it should work quite well. Are those two in the middle bigger? What do you estimate the total cost of it is?

    The 2 in the middle are 42W.
    Total cost???
    Car window reflector - $3
    10 Bulbs - $50+-
    Wire caps - $2
    2 Spotlights(The painting kind) - $10(used for begin veg, and plug wire for DIY)
    Total Cost $65 +-
    That white wire frame came from a baby/animal door blocker thing.
    If you look close you can see I used another piece for my screen.

    Also note that, The 42W bulbs are too large and gangly to use exclusively. And then there's this:
    23W=1600 Lumens 69.5L/W
    42W=2600 Lumens 61.9L/W

    First log? Very nice job, ZComp. When I thought about posting a log I tried to think of things that I enjoyed about other folks' logs. Also, as we are likely to be stoners (no foolin') <G> it is good to repeat some of the info a lot, like how old the plants are (if there's a photo especially) and what kind of plants they are.

    Again, nice log, man.

    That's what I thought until one of the people working in Home Depot stopped me when I had all the stuff to make a 8ft bong out of a flouro tube. He said, "dude that bong is gonna kill you!" But, anyways it's just innocent supplies. :thumbsup:
