Yep, get 'em attached to your pots, and let the plants grow up into them. Then keep an eye out for males, and yank those as soon as you see the bananas. I don't think those screens you made are gonna work -- you need some kind of grid with 1" or 1.5" square holes, or hexagonal holes, something. They sell deer fencing (to keep deer out of gardens), plastic, square grid, for like $10 for a 50' roll. That's what I used for the larger screen with multiple plants under it.

The little screens I made were actually kind of expensive, because they want like $15 for each closet organizer drawer, but they sure are sturdy. The plus with those is that you don't need a strong material around the edges to hold the bendable stuff in the middle, because it's *all* strong; I think it's steel with a white plastic coating.
