guys, im bout to have a kid, its due in march, and i have reached a conflict... my girlfriend who use to smoke and drink with me, has suddenly decided that altho, i will be workin a lot and wont be around the baby cept couple days a week, that i shouldnt smoke anymore cause it will make me a bad parent... anyone think that me smokin when im alone or with friends is a bad thing to do since i got a kid, she is makin me feel bad and i been smokin for years before i met her ya kno

Bah, But then you'll shell-out $60/Mo for cable???? Bull. My mom was a single parent and never stopped smoking(nor would I ever have asked her ). She just decided on a budget say $60/mo, and stuck to it. It never interfered with my or my 3 brothers Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween, Birthdays, Valentines Day or any occasion. We were poor but my moms budgeting made that a dead point. We always had 3 squares and any clothes or supplies we needed.
And this isn't the first I've seen this. Kids are a HUGE responsibility, that makes for a good amount of stress especially for the lower class. Don't take me wrong though. Now more than ever you need to become discreet. You'll face losing your child if you get busted selling or even possessing especially @ Home. If you can cope with your stresses W/O weed then do for safety sake. But my mom would have been a bigger safety risk if she hadn't smoked.

yeah i mean shes gettin cooler bout it cause she knows im responsible and i manage my money well, i mean ive had to support myself since i was 16 so im use to havin lotta responsibilty, i will definitely be cuttin back a great deal

I have 2 kids... one is 4 and one is 1.. i do not smoke around them but when im with friends or when they are not areound me i do... it doesnt make you a bad parent. its not like you are drunk and taking care of your kids. i dont understand that.. as for me... i am a single mother and my 2 are a lot to deal with sometimes.. when they drive me absolutely crazt in the middle of the nigh when they are fast asleep i go to my car and smoke a joint.. makes me feel better and they havent a clue. i dont keep it in the house and it is NEVER around them. HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU A BAD PARENT??? YOU CAN STILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY!

Its really only about responsibility. My wife doesn't smoke, but she supports my medicine and would never ask me to change my behavior unless it was provoking irresponsibility.
I will admit though, I had to drop more than a couple of smoker friends cause they wouldn't understand the gravity of raising a human being.
As long as the kid is your #1 priority then you'll be doing better than alot of parents out there .

For some people quiting might be the best way to go. If you think you can smoke responsibly and be fully devoted to raising your child than I dont think you'd have to quit. Just dont spend money on pot if your kid needs something

You won't have to drop any friends, like zcomp did. Almost everyone becomes a dad sometimes.

I'd say keep it low. Sure, you can have some puffs walking the baby ouot in the wilderness, and around, but later you'll have to stop doing all of that around your kid. By the time he/she is 3, they should never even see you smoke, unless you're out camping, or at the "wild place" where everyone still loves each other, but there are some different rules

It's not about the money, or about what others think. Don't get busted. Stay away from busted.

As long as you keep thinking, like you were when you asked other people questions, you'll be able to figure out things for your family on your own.

congrats on the kid...be smart most states will take that kid away from u for even a bowl pack...so be smart about it very smart...ur kids come first

Oh man i know exactly how you feel.

When my gf and I got pregnant (she was carrying) We both decided we would quit. After a couple of months the stress started building and well I'm not the type of person to take things lightly nor do I cope with change easily. I mean, we went from partying all the time, being able to do whatever we wanted, spend our extra money on anything we wanted and just have a good ol' time. I started noticing the my anxiety was starting to come back and decided to smoke behind her back. I never mentioned anything regarding pot, I always kept things super chill between her and I and never did she notice me being High.
Then slowly I started re introducing it to her but in a different light.. She use to hate how cranky or easily annoyed I would get throughout the day and how one little thing could ruin it all So I started discussing Pot and it's positive effect on people with Anxiety.. She started thinking about it and realized it would probably be a lot better to just be ok with me smoking then me being a bitch all the time. Well, now she occasionally joins me when I smoke. We never smoke in the house or keep anything in the house due to our little girl. But if push comes to shove and i have to quite for her wellbeing then hey that's what i got to do.

In the end, it's your decision, you just have to be KO and be able to live with yourself no matter what your choice is.
