    Advice

Okay, so I am majoring in something that is a pretty crappy degree (think business & behavioral sciences). I am done with all of my classes, except for one. You have to have a 2.0 in order to graduate, but due to many reasons (death of family member, diagnosed with bipolar, etc), I have not been able to maintain that. Basically, I have to take 25 hours (roughly 8 classes) and make all A's. This is going to be nearly impossible to do. I can probably make A's and B's, but this school is hard and competitive. Anyways, I have a ton of money in loans, and it is going to be hard to find a job in my major making good money in order to pay them back. What should I do? How can the damn government allow this to happen? CitiAssit charges students 8% interest! Ugh..Any advice? Sorry to bore you!

    Very good advice.

Before you ask any of us, always ALWAYS ask mary first.

Do the best you can. I bet you have heard that from everyone tho. School is just an obstacle tho. I have never met you, but to be taken the courses that you are taken and to be in the position that you are in, I bet you can do what is asked. Just relax, don't worry bout a DAMN thing, smoke some mary, and just do it cause you can.

Yeah, smoke the bud and think. However, assuming you have student loans to pay off, the payments were pretty cheap for me (I think 30 bucks a month...) and that was easy, but this is only of course I decided to pay my first 3 semesters at a community college to get my associates in arts. I dunno, talk to bud first.

First off, do the very best you can, lay off the weed until your done... Second, The Government got nothing to do with it. Every liberal wants to blame the government for their shortcomings. Your major was *YOUR* choice, now you have to live with it, unless you want to start from scratch and doit all over. maybe if you real lucky, most of your courses will be applicable to a major that will earn you a living.

FWIW, 8% interest is not all that bad.

The questions I have in my mind are Why did you chose a major that doesn't have any employment potential?? Why do you only have a 2.0 gpa, then wait till the last minute to do something about it... or is that the Governments fault too?? I know its not what you want to hear, but thats not the point.

The point is that anything worth having is worth busting your butt and working from can to can't to achieve.

If you want hard and competitive, go with an engineering major at schools like MIT, Cal Poly, or Stanford.

Now get off your lazy butt and *DO* something.

That sounds like a lot, but it can be done. I've been in a similar situation. I recommend laying off ganja until this has all passed and hitting the books to study. What's your major?

Hey now, I am a liberal! Why did I choose my major? Because I enjoy it and I want to be happy...happiness is more important than money sometimes. Also, when you are 18, it is hard to decide what you want ot do for the rest of your life. I can't change the past, you know. I can make money with my degree, I just have to get my Master's, which is hard considering my financial situation at the time. In case you didn't know, interest still acrues while you are in school. Therefore, I need to pay this off before I go back. Second, I am not lazy by no means, lol. I am in several organizations. I have just had several situations occur that hindered my progress, which I stated above.

Not trying to be hateful, just explaining my reasoning!

To everyone else, thank you all!

First thing, you should get a job. ;P

If you become physically disabled, we'll talk about progress that been hindered, but so far I don't see it. You simply have debt you need to pay off. But doing nothing about it won't pay the debts off!

Now enter an field which you'd enjoy. Your degree, while relevant, isn't as important as you are making it out to be. Now find a job. Reiterate on your resume you are close to graduation, and looking for an entry-level position.

Once you start earning a bit of money, take a class or two after work towards finishing your degree.

One step at a time. Handle the pressures bit by bit. You are simply overwhelmed by the big picture.

If you want really hard and competitive, try medical school.

As a liberal, I take exception at the sweeping generalization you wrote (in bold) above. I don't blame the government for anything, and if you'll reread her post, you'll see CutieGirl wasn't, either. She was simply lamenting the interest rate on her student loans. She didn't blame the state of her grades or her choice of majors on the government.

Watch out for liberal-bashing. Many of us are a whole lot smarter than you realize. Almost as smart as conservatives, I daresay. (I was being sarcastic there. I happen to know I'm 10 times smarter!)
