making a pipe

a wooden one...i got everythign set all i have to do is drill the holes but i was woundering like the whole to inhale in the smoke (not the hole for the bowl) in 3/16 to big???

i was also woundering when i carv the bowl should i leave it plain or put somethin else in it?

Maybe put a metal lining on it or find something to make the bowl metal so it doesn't burn. A socket or somethin perhaps.
