Can indoor marijuana grow outside just like outdoor marijuana?

I want to grow Northern Lights outdoors for various reasons. It's short, quite odorless, especially since I'll be growing weed in my lawn close to my neighbor.
So I'm just wondering, is it possible to grow indoor marijuana (northern lights) outside just like outdoor marijuana. Does it require more care or what? :rastasmoke:

Outdoors introduces a variety of problems that you don't have indoors, besides the security issue. You'll have to deal with bugs, squirrels and other rodents and pests. You won't be able to control the temps, so if it gets too hot, you may get hermies or the plants may die. If it gets too cold, they may die. If there are any male plants in the general area, you may get seedy pot even if one of your own doesn't hermie on you and pollinate the others.

But sure, you can grow outside. It's certainly cheaper on the electric bill.

1. I don't want my whole house smelling like weed, I'm growing outdoor...
2. There are no nearby male marijuana plants, I know my neighbors
3. The area I am growing in is fenced off from animals, especially from animals... also my cat kills rodents that surround the area... haven't seen a rabbit in my lawn for two years

I just want to know, can indoor plants be grown just as easily as outdoor plants grow outdoors.

There is no *real* difference between "indoor" and "outdoor" strains. Technically, all plants are outdoor plants. The term "indoor" simply means it is well adapted through selective breeding to grow in an indoor environment (moreso than other strains in other words). It by no means indicates that a strain can't be grown outdoors. The indoor / outdoor trend in labeling strains wasn't even invented until the 80's.

See "Sensimilla Marijuana Flowers" by Jim Richardson and Arik Woods (published 1976). This work has been considered a turning point in MJ genetics by many, including Robert Connel Clarke (famed cannabis chronicler). In the 70's and 80's the "Sacred Seed Company," a clandestine breeding co-op in California, began the sensimilla revolution and started the selective breeding wave that has since spread across the globe and migrated largely to the Netherlands. Only during this time period did the terms "indoor" and "outdoor" come about, only to distinguish which strains could be easily bred in the limited spaces of indoor setups. Before this, there weren't many different designations between strains, as just about everything in the US was sativa (indica species subtypes weren't introduced in to the US until around '74).

Actually, the main difference is flowering time. In the northern US, the "indoor" plants will not mature outside until well after the first frost. But in a sufficiently warm climate where frost isn't a major concern, indoor plants can be grown outdoors. Indoor plants are also usually less resistant to diseases and pests.

interesting... I was thinking that indoor plants would less resistant to outdoor problems. I've thought about mixing Northern Lights with some sativa to make it more outdoor friendly since sativa is supposedly more built for outdoors. ummm... like Northern Lights x Haze or Northern Lights x Big bud

all plants obviously were grown outside in the beginning. some of the newer strains are (just like said above) better for indoor growing since they wouldnt have the time to mature in your natural enviroment. sativas wouldnt mature in the woods in a northern climate. i know people who have grown both northern lights and skunk outdoors and they do well even though they are considered indoor strains.

Sativas typically have a long life cycle and mature late, actually. It depends where you are.
