    Don't Take It Seriously.

Something keeps whispering in my ear lately, might as well share it.

If religion or thinking about religion negatively impacts your mood, distract yourself. Everyone gets very serious when talking about the nature of reality/god/love/life. But in the end, do you really want ANY subject in life not to have a level of perception that says you can laugh at all of it?

We're all here. We're all making the best of it.

Might as well chill out and have fun with the serious stuff.
Heck, you may even find out that god has a sense of humor

I think we should honor what is sacred and not take life for granted. I think just sitting here and breathing, being alive is an absolute miracle. I recognise the depth and value of human life and emotion and the breadth of life which is greater than myself and how can anything else be right but to consider these things with an attitude of sobriety, solemnity, and humility?

Laughter is for rejoicing, not for foolishness, and life is to be honored with a pure heart.
And God said... I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. ..And to every beast of the earth.. I have given every green herb for meat... \" Genesis 1:29-30

it is a plant, grows in the ground
    bears seed, and green.

if a belief is so fragile that it cannot stand the weight of laughter, then it must be fatally flawed. if we can see the humorous side of our most cherished beliefs and still have faith in them, we know that they have at least some small merit.:hippy:

Harsh ridicule is reserved for links to the past like racism or anyone still wearing a mullet.

I think what he's saying is that it's not so much a matter of laughing at ones beliefs, but with them. Even Buddha laughed a lot and was renouned for having a good sense of humor. Personally, I agree with Inferius, we should be seeking paths to hapiness and betterment. If you're so enveloped in your beliefs that all you experience is mystery at everything that contradicts them, they will not hold. I like the Taoist (and arguably buddhist) view on this subject; not fighting or grasping at anything, just flowing with what is in total acceptance, making the best of what you can and making peace with what's unchangeable.

The only people who would be offended by the passive nature of the opening thread is somone who is more concerned with teh belif of others than their own. People with weak faith, wether it's in some god or themselves feel threatend by anything that may pose a threat to their way of life.

This coniditon is caused by insecruity that grabs the human race globally, by the balls.
