    need help with my grow

i have encountered those brown spots before and it is a lack of some type of nutrient probly nitrogen... i've noticed that your plant didn't get long and stringy which means that the light was at a good spot... if its too far away the plant will start to "stretch" towards it.. a good way to tell if its too close is by putting the back of your hand under the bulb, if your hand is too hot for comfort then its too hot for your plant

Cannabis does not need any darkness during veg. That is a myth. Your *environment* may need the 6 hours of downtime, usually due to inadequate ventilation, to provide some time to cool down, but the plants do not. 24 hours of energy beamed at them during veg just makes them grow faster. If you don't like the speed at which they grow and wish to slow them down, or your ventilation/temps are inadequate to handle 24-hour lighting, then 18/6 makes sense.
If you search these forums, You'll find that some-one did the experiment to test that. There conclusion was that 18/6 actually produced a larger root. Larger roots = Larger plants = Larger yield. :smokin:
Not to be picky or anything but I was under that same impression until the results. :rasta:

*I* did the experiment, myself, to settle the matter once and for all, at least as far as I am concerned. Here's how I did it. First, I bought two identical cabinets from WalMart. I added identical fans and lights to them (4" axial fans, 125W blue CFL in each cabinet, that's 125 real watts, not equivalent, big ol' bulbs). I put clones from the same mother in each cabinet. I kept the temps at 70F ambient in the room containing both of the cabinets, around 77F inside the cabinets. I fed them the same nutes (Fox Farm Grow Big), starting the nutes on the same day. After four weeks, the plants running 24/0 were noticeably larger and more developed than the 18/6 plants. I don't know whether the 18/6 plants had bigger *roots* or not, as I was just concerned with which lighting regime produced bigger plants in the shortest amount of time.

That said, the 18/6 plants did not end up, after flowering, all *that* much smaller than the 24/0 plants. They were smaller, but not hugely so. The six 24/0 plants probably produced about an extra two ounces (total, for all six plants) over the 18/6 plants. Still, a couple of ounces is a couple of ounces, and I'd rather have them than not.

Well I haven't done this yet so I can only go on what I read but the experiment I'm reefering to only vegged for 10-Days(Hydro I believe) then pulled and measured each root. They also did a few on each side for variability(4 I think). It was a very well done experiment but that was only "there" results with "there" strain. If you believe in the 24/0 I say do-it. I personally wouldn't be able to swallow the 24/0. MJ wasn't born in nature with 24/0 so maybe there is unforeseen reasons for that, Natures "reasons". I totally support that extra couple O's, I'm just a worrisome putts.

    need help with my grow

I am currently on a grow as I type this and my plants were on a 24/0 light schedule and I switched to 18/6. While my plants were in 24/0 they were growing slowly and seemed to just stop growing. Shortly after switching to 18/6 light schedule my plants almost doubled in size. Im not saying they grew bigger because I switched but it seems that way. Here have a look. http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/...s-t5-grow.html

Good luck with your grow and with what ever light schedule that you do decide to go with. Many growers have had great success with both light schedules.

i think my problem is nitrogen i bought a soil test kit and my ph was neutral but my nitrogen level was very very low so i bought some plant food with nitrogen it mixes in with water and it says feed seedlings and new growth every 2-4 weeks so hopefully my problem clears up soon
