I think you will attract attention with a tent. I don't like the tent idea.
How much does it cost to rent a storage room? If you're planning to buy a tent and a dehumidifier, I would look into storage pricing.
I would probably just get plenty of large brown paper bags. Cut the plants up, and use as many bags as you need for thickness. The problem with the bags, you will still need to find a place (covering) where the rain will not get to them. Good Luck!
I think you still have enough time to come up with a decent plan.
Do you only need to dry them, or will you also be curing outdoors?

drying ur pot plants stinks the smell is very distintive n over powering it wouldnt be wise to bring fresh cut felonies into a public setting too risky
buy a temp storage shed n set it up at ur parents or a friends house

The Outdoor Drying Thread
I plan on harvesting very soon and am trying to figure out the best timing and method for and outdoor dry. I am thinking of doing it up in a large tree hidden with good airfow and a camo tarp protecting from rain along with possibly netting to protect from bugs.
Anyone have any ideas/advice?

The Outdoor Drying Thread
Here is a post I found on another forum by a poster by the name of Omar...
"There ya go. You answered yourself....
I have always done outdoor hang when possible, and, yes, I do understand people's caution of the unknown, which is why my stance is always:
Try it with a little, see what you think, and, go from there. (ie: little test batch...)
Now, from my own experience, I am sure that anyone who does will, indeed, find that "test batch" will be much, much different from their indoor dry.
(ie: Of course, I used to dry in......I didn't always dry out.....I did, and then, never went back)
Some question the practice itself, and, conditions, but, again, I've always done it when possible. Firsthand experience, and, yes, product is astounding. I won't really speculate on the alteration in processes and why, but, anyone who tries it will note they will see much more trichs, and, larger....
Some will speak of tents, some will speak of heat sources in the tents, and, I would also reference to people the extremely large outs that people do (in US, Natl. Forests, etc). They do not have facilities, they do not set up numerous large tents, so....of course ...how do they dry it then?
My experiences are a little different due to volume, which basically goes right back to rule #1, being:
You do what you can, where you can, how you can, when you can
Which is hanging everything you can, anywhere you can.....
Now, I wouldn't recommend in the sun, and, of course, one of the possible benefits of the out hang is that your drying much slower than an in would. (Since, of course, the plant is still alive after you cut it...and, without complete darkness...it "dies slower"....
You can hang from trees, on broken branches, if area has any older fences you can also utilize those...you can also break a couple branches that will create "hooks" per se......
Ideally, yes, as above, you want covered areas, from elements, but, ime, all your fans and secondaries will of course cover for the most part, but, you want as much out of the sun as possible (Sun is then "drying" it...with heat...which, if humidity, could create a problem......
You can string ropes between trees......you can also tie ropes to branches, roks, whatever and throw over higher branches so you can pull everything up higher off the ground (could pull 30' up into trees for stealth.....). I have also seen tying ropes around trunks of larger trees, and using that, but, one side of the plant will be against the tree, lack of circulation, and, could be a mold issues....
I've done weeks which had a little more rain that I was comfortable with, and, was not always a problem (because they were hung as much as possible out of rain, and, fans and such also covering......)
Yeah, I always tell people: Your worried? Do a small amount from 1 round....see for yourself, and, go from there........once people see, they're usually sold, but, of course, depends on ones location, and, should keep an eye on weather.....
I mean, ime....it all boils down to: If you cut, and, everythings fine?.....should be no problem....
If your having mold issues before/when cut??? Well.....that's a judgement call and might want to take home and then try the following week...
Schedule being, assuming weekends:
You cut first round, hang, go home......
Come back 2nd weekend, pack up hung, cut and hang second round, go home....
3rd weekend, pack last, cut and hang, etc....
Yeah, I swear by hanging, and, product is astounding.......
(possibly because growth not ceasing...and it "finishes", and then begins the dry...I really have no idea as to the specific scientific explanation, but, I can say......out hung, compared to in.......you place it in front of 10 people (after dried, clipped, minimal cure,) and, ask them which they want....... all 10 will choose the out dried
Always....
You just try to do the best you can (as far as out of sun, out of rain, etc, andm, I know..many face different conditions, but, I HAVE hung and had succes iun conditions many times tht some would argue is "impossible"....
Note: If you hang......and , when you come back following week, it will not be "dry"....it will have lost moisture, weight, etc, but, by no means ready to jar/pack....You take back.....maybe hang whoile you do the clipping.......and watch it....could still be couple days till ready to pack..(ie: 5 day indoor dry, as compared to a 7 out, than 5 in..
Depends, once again, on the week.....sometimes, depending on conditions of clipping areas (indoors), could hang, clip, toss in boxes, and, by the time your done clipping (days), could be ready to be bagged (I prefer those bigger zip locks.....like 2' x 3'...they're new....and, I also love doing a light compress into cardboard boxes, and, if dry enough, just light compress, then toss those boxes in a corner, and, comes out very nice.....
All depends on how much one is doing....obviously.....the methods one employs and approach.....
(Should also be noted: In volume, I stick to big stuff....everything else goes into bubble piles, which are watched close (for quality), and, then, picked through before worked for anything worth saving.......)
Hmm...I think that was long, wasn't it
Nah, out's the way.....I just started doing it long ago because maybe out of curiosity, simplicity, convenience, etc......don't even recall....but, it stuck with me big time....
(And, again...you see these outs 2,000-5,000-10,000-20,000 8 + footers......I mean...how do people think they do it?
THATS how
(Turns entire process into something much more simple.....while preserving product....)
Yeah, everyone should do a test....first round, cut could branches (or, if numbers, plant or two for control batch, etc...and, week later, compare for yourself
But, yeah, avoid sun......you don't want it to dry fast....
Slower the better.....
Note: sometimes after 7 days hung out, still good to run through trimming machine...."
