All right, the guy dropped the ball, so we are going to take over for him. I'm going to do 80-90, each person do a set of 10, so everyone can make a contribution to this list. This way, we at least made an input before we criticize!

The cannabis.com top 100 of all time. from 80-89. In this section, I'm going to put the artists everyone tend to forget, or don't even know about, but their impact to music has been huge, not necessarily commercially, but critically.

89. Cedric & Omar (of At The Drive-In, and The Mars Volta) - These two are the catalyst of great works that has been produced in the last decade and a half. From their post-hardcore sound with At The Drive-In, to the progressive rock with The Mars Volta, this pair still show rock'n'roll is not dead, it's merely has begun.

88. Neutral Milk Hotel - Led by songwriter Jeff Magnum, he made the most intricate album of the 90s. The album so well constructed, and immaculate, he chose never to make another album again. I don't blame him. That album "In An Aeroplane Over The Sea" is also known as the tribute to Anne Frank. If you never heard it, and you claim to be a big music fan, you are lost. I suggest the first thing download it, get stoned, and listen to it. Don't change tracks, otherwise you'll destroy the impact.

87. Operation Ivy - To disagree with Deadhead, Bad Brains is nowhere near the label ska-punk. Bad Brains started as Jazz Fusion, before going hardcore with some dub reggae influence. However the first to bring ska-punk to wider audiences is this band above, Operation Ivy. The single album they produced is one of the most important works of the ska-punk genre. This album has inspired the works of many bands, including Sublime, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Green Day and many more.

86. The Kinks - This is the forgotten band of the British invasion. Overshadowed by The Beatles, Stones, and The Who, they produced beautiful melodies, and their albums more intricate than their peers. Their bluesy, psychedelic sound was the blueprint for influencing bands that many consider the godfathers of heavy metal.

85. The Beach Boys - They credit Sgt Pepper as the first "concept" album, but really this title belongs to the Beach Boys. They beat the Beatles by a year with "Pet Sounds." Their impact on pop music is still felt today. All pop artists are indirectly influenced by them.

84. My Bloody Valentine - Founders of Shoegaze, which involve creative distortion and reverb techniques, they produced a number of great albums no one bothered to pick up and listen to. They are the inspiration of many bands in the indie scene, and their sound has influenced a vast amount of lesser known genres in rock, dream pop and post-punk most notably.

83. Mahavishnu Orchestra - You probably wonder, who the hell are these guys? They were one of the pioneers of jazz fusion. Many credit The Grateful Dead for influencing the jam band movement. They are right, but not completely. Much of the jam sound today comes from the influence of jazz fusion, which these guys founded. No band has ever blended eastern and western influences as well as them.

82. The Clash - London Calling. That's all I need to say. Every album they produced is a classic, one of the first punk bands to become famous, however they were so much more than that. They incorporated many genres of music into their sound.

81. Brian Eno - Not one man has done more for music than this guy. Not only did he have a deep impact on Rock'N'Roll but electronica. He spawned countless genres: New Wave, Glam, Art , Ambient, and Electronica.

80. The Velvet Underground - This band influenced many bands, and artists including Brian Eno, who made this famous quote: "While only a few thousand people bought a Velvet Underground record upon their initial release almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band." Lou Reed is a god in his craft, blissful songwriting that their influences are still heard today.

I'd put Cedric and Omar and Mahuvishnu a lot higher, but that's a pretty legit list. I'll take 79 - 70, but I'm going to put some thought into it, so I'll be back with it.

79. Bauhaus - One of the first bands to realize that Glam and Goth were the same. Kind of like David Bowie and Joy Division. They made way for alot of bands such as the Cure (especially their mid to late '80s records), Souxie and Banshees, etc.

78. Willie Nelson - Who is more triumphant in music than Willie Nelson? I can't personally think of anyone who still plays live music as Willie Nelson at 70 years old. I can't think of anyone who does it at 50. Hardly 40. He's remained relative and productive through his entire career, making the Rolling Stones seem even more sad.

77. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Emotive instrumental movement, solid rock drum back beats, feedback, and political messages delivered through visual art and samples. Probably the most epic music ever made, probably powerful enough to cure AIDS in Africa. Probably.

76. Pentagram - Better than Black Sabbath.

75. Joy Division - Ian Curtis might be one of the first people to ever like the Stooges AND Kraftwerk. Setting a standard for dance punk, whether it's of their invention or not, and being one of the most tragic poet deaths of rock's history put them here.

74. Thelonious Monk - Some of the most peculiar harmonies, and no lack in tension, Thelonious Monk as a composer is no less important than Mozart or Gershwin.

73. Nirvana - Nirvana is here because they belong somewhere on the list they don't belong where they'd probably end up, in the top 10. They're important not on a creative level, but for impact. Nirvana is kind of like, "My First Indie/Alternative/Rock band. They're not very talented, and didn't push any creative musical boundaries, but they brought a sense of some integrity back into mainstream rock. Then it died again in 2000.

72. Oingo Boingo - Danny Elfman is one of the most incredible and influential score composers of the last 100 years at least. He can't even read or write music, but he is able to compose full scores for huge orchestras. But Oingo Boingo is important because they mixed influence from that side of Elfman with pop rock music. Oingo Boingo is kind of the jester of rock.

71. Cursive - Someday Cursive may be higher on this list. In years to come Cursive's influence will probably have grown tremendously. Tim Kasher is the single most outgoing, passionate and entertaining performer I've ever witnessed. His drunken banter makes you feel a strange connection to him and the band, and their live playing is solid and powerful. Adding in the way they've handled themselves through their career, and path they're taking, Cursive has a big future.

70. Fugazi - In my opinion, the most important and influential Dischord band. Ian MacKaye has done more for the way the music business is run than most realize, and his music has influenced nearly every rock band since, in one way or another. They were an epic joining of forces of Minor Threat and Rights of Spring, and have a strong arguement for being the first "emo" band. Which for them, was some what of an insult.

69. Dinosaur Jr. - Before Nirvana, before The Pixies there was dinoJ. some of their new albums are wack but Your Living All Over Me and Fossils are great albums. Their influence shines in almost all "alternative" rock

68. John Frusciante - There will always be a place in my ears for Niandra LaDes & Usualy just a t-shirt. this guys early albums are a perfect example of drug influenced music.

67. Sonic Youth - so versatile and deffinatley withstood the test of time.

66. Heavy Vegetable (and/or) Thingy - Check these guys out they know what the fuck their doing. They make rock music "fun"

65. Commus - Darker than Tool, More fucked up than sabbath and way more disturbing than anything else ive ever heard. Oh yeah, its a folk band. (first utterance is the album)

64. The Breeders - POD need i say more?

63. The Microphones - i cant even begin to explain how important it is to listen to this band. Their stuff is a little slow but when you get into youl love it.

62. Roy Montgomery - one of my favorite guitarists, this guy can do it all from ambient tracks to ear shattering raw guitar.

61. Slint - i cant take anyone seriously who talk about rock music and hasent heard of Slint. Spiderland is one of the best albums ever recorded. So dark and eerie, brooding guitars. oh my god you have to hear it.

60. Bardo Pond - ORGANIZED CHAOS. It takes a while to get used to, but when i listen to them im in a state of ecstasy and nothing can stop it. I would risk my life & persecution to spread the word of bardo pond.

i hope you guys like my addition to the list, theres many many many bands that i wish i could put on the list. but it would be a waste of energy to put a bunch of bands most of you have neva heard of...
