4-6 plants wont stink up the entire basement. Build a carbon scrubber, those are the best and is a nice addition to your exhaust fans.

Ion genarators, elctrostat filters, carbon filters, and HEPA filters are all effective ways of fighting order.

Just get a ozone generator and use a tiny fan to mix the air being sanitized.

Do not use an ozone generator in the same room as your plants, it will kill them. Buy some active charcoal from the pond fish store (it's cheaper there). Get 3 furnace air filters and a good fart fan. You can make a scrubber with little effort and it will handle all your odor problems for 6 to 8 months then you just change the charcoal. I use 6 pounds in 3 layers in a 7x7x7 sealed room and it works great.

Do you have a drain/sewer in your basement?
If so, I've heard of people removing the lid from the drain and attatching a fan to it so the odor goes down the sewer.
