The Bipartisan Guarantee of More War in Iraq
I don't think it would be all that moral to just leave Iraq and let it just fall apart. I mean, we created this problem by creating a power vacuum. Whether doing so was just or unjust, wise or unwise, is really rather irrelevant at this point.
What seems like it would fix the problem would be to have one strongman-type assert control over the country and rule it by cracking down hard on anyone who dissents. We miss you, Saddam! Ironic, isn't it, that what seems like it might actually work there is what we forcibly eliminated. I'm not saying Saddam was a great guy; he was a vicious and greedy bastard. But there weren't gazillions of suicide bombers exploding trucks on a daily basis when he was in charge. Hard to believe, but I really do think things were significantly better when Saddam was running the show.jamstigator Reviewed by jamstigator on . The Bipartisan Guarantee of More War in Iraq By CHRIS FLOYD Our text for today is from the New York Times: "Even as they call for an end to the war and pledge to bring the troops home, the Democratic presidential candidates are setting out positions that could leave the United States engaged in Iraq for years. John Edwards, the former North Carolina senator, would keep troops in the region to intervene in an Iraqi genocide and be prepared for military action if violence spills into other countries.
