    too much darkness?

    Hey guys and gals

Iā??m currently growing outdoors and in the ideal world my plants would be flowering soon but considering the needed dark period I doubt they will be doing so until its too late to harvest anything from them.

Due to my work schedule I canā??t induce 12/12 perfectly.
I have a very fine mesh fence that blocks out about 80% of the light, I was considering trying to give the plants a lower light cycle, but Iā??m pretty afraid that it would be kind of erratic, ie hermies, and such.

Anyway my question is, does anyone think this would be a good idea, I donā??t myself, but Iā??m hoping someone will have some experience with flowering with a little more then 12/12. I know the plants need a certain period of darkness, and light, but what is considered pushing the envelope to the point where you are risking the plants health. This is not a harvest for max yields situation, just a final grow before things go indoors. also, before i forget, the plants are in the very first stages of preflower i think, less then a few days into it max, that or im just too excited.

    Thanks for any help

And Dutch, I know you are out there somewhere, do you have AIM man?

while growing outside dont fuck with the light cycle, thats really only good when u are growing indoors. its harder to control a plant outdoors. theres too many factors you need to worry about

how ever if u really really must. take off the mesh thing because plants need a lot of light and at night put a big garbage bag over the female and take it off next morning and tha tshould force some more flowering

just give it some time they dont need 12/12 to flower and probably already started it will seem like outdoor plants flower faster than indoors but in reality its just the fact you dont know exactly when they started, indoors you know when you went to 12/12, outdoors you may have a rough guess but once you see buds start to develop they have probably been flowering for 2-3 weeks already.

I will send you something thru the rep system when I can. (must wait before rep again, check user CP, later)

I have never grown outdoors, too risky around here. But I think most of the advice above is correct, just let nature do her thing. When you go indoors, maybe I can be of some help. If I see anything I don't agree with, I will chime in.....:smokin:....are you outdoors in pots?...or the ground?

Just remember, the more information you give, the easier and more accurate the advice will be, especially, timeline, pics, lights, nutes, etc, etc. Have you been reading a grow guide(s)? It's really your best source of info, then come to the forums with help on things, you are fuzzy on.

    Later, Dude.

As the daylight hours get shorter, your plants will naturally respond by going to flower.
12/12 is a standard that most indoor growers use, but that doesn't mean you must always have exactly 12/12 to get flowers.
Indoors, the switch to 12/12 tricks them into flower faster.
    Nature doesn't work that way.

    Thanks Psteve for the advice!

Hey Dutch, i try to rep you all the time, but i apparently don't do it to enough people to give you any more any time soon. I'm growing in the ground also, its smack in the middle of my garden so you cant see anything unless you are already robbing me of my fruit.

Also i'm about to purchase my seeds for indoors so be looking out for a help thread in the next few months. and yes i've read tons of guides, but i tend to be the type of person who asks for advice when i already have my answer worked out in my head, just as a little bit of added insurance. also dutch if you catch this, have you ever order from DR Chronic before? i know this is not exactly the place to ask, but i didn't want to start a thread in the seeds area directly just at you.

Sounds like you got things under contol. Nothing like a little insurance. Get yourself a pocket microscope, you will need at harvest time (Radio Shack, about $10)

I don't usually get into recommending seed banks because there are so many to chose from and the only one I have used is Dutch-Seeds.com. They are slow to deliver, but I trust the quality. (in fact , I think they take the whole month of August off, and go on vacation, like everybody else in Europe..:wtf:...They also have a grow guide that I used to get started. In the Seeds and Strains forum, you should find all you can handle in way of recommendations.

Personally, I like the white strains, but chosing seeds is personal matter. I just like that crippling high....:silly:..

    Later, Dude....peace, bro.
